  1. Thanks for the comments. All good stuff. Just shot a match yesterday, and still didn't see what I was hoping to see. Wish my subconscious mind was a little more aggressive in taking things over But I also understand that as long as I'm thinking about, and looking for it, then I'm not going to be able to let it happen. I WILL get it. I'm completely confident that it is/will be happening, and I'm trying to approach every match and practice, with the assumption that it's already there and a part of my shooting, so it's not on my mind when the buzzer sounds. 2. My first 'need comments/advice' post. Definitely a beginner with 10 total matches under my belt since starting in Production beginning in Feb., then 3 matches since switching to a 9 Maj Open gun. I try to shoot one match a week, and 1 live practice a week, with dry fire as I can work it in. 2 weeks ago today, I was practicing simple draw-2-2-2 at 7 yards. about the 5th time through the drill, I drew, fired, and something strange happened. The first shot was an A - usually is at that range. On the second shot, before the gun was even done shuddering in my hands, I had a snapshot in my mind of exactly where the hole in the target was. (I was using some hardcover painted down vertically to an A-zone only targets I happened to have in my truck). I should say, I know exactly where the dot was when the sot fired actually. I KNEW the second shot was lower left corner A touching the black. I mean I KNEW it - I'd have bet my paycheck on it. Even though it was an A hit, THE GUN decided to take a follow up shot, and moved itself up and right and fired again. I'm not kidding guys - the GUN did it - not me ! I was just WATCHING the whole thing transpire. I actually stopped shooting, with a big, silly-ass grin on my face. I believe I actually 'called' my shot for the first time. So THAT"S what it feels like. I felt like I'd just crossed a major hurdle in my shooting. All the things I read on here suddenly begin to make sense. Now I'm making progress ! Now the bad news. It's been two matches, and two practices later, and I can't get there again. I got it one time, and one time only. I finally felt what it was like to actually WATCH as the gun shoots and moves itself, and KNOW where a shot actually hit the target. Two weeks later I can still see it. It's really an incredible thing to feel. What do I have to do to get it to come back ???? JimInFL
  3. I used the SR Loop with DOH in production as do several others I shoot with. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there some controversy about this right before the latest rule changes ? Seems like I read about it in some older threads here somewhere. My son uses the Tek Lok because he switches between IDPA (no DOH allowed) and IPSC, so it makes it easy to change setups. I ask him about it and he says the Tek Lok actually is a lot more stable than you might think after just visually comparing the two methods. He seems perfectly happy with it.
  4. +1 on the paper clip. Works fine. The instructions (linked) referenced above are right on. If that doesn't work, can you post a pic or a better explanation of what's happening ?
  5. Might want to check with Calamity Jane and see what she finally came up with too. I remember in her range diary she was experimenting with this at one time.
  6. Jim, just wanted to give you a heads up on the TB. My experience was that it was a very good feeling powder however I went from very slight primer flattening at 7.8 to tophatted smashed primers at 8.0 so I think there is a pressure spike right in that neighborhood. YMMV Thanks smokshwn - did you need to go higher on the load for a reason, or were you experimenting ?
  7. SKR - what sort of life you get from a battery like that ? I've considered doing that myself. (sorry about the slight thread drift guys) JimInFL
  8. I really did try to search this one out - and I can't find a thing. Maybe it's too basic - my experience is 13 matches total (11 Prod, 2 Open). I haven't had this happen since moving to open, but it did come up several times in Production, and I'm certain it will come up again. I try to consider all my options when evaluating a stage. Sometimes it's most efficient for me to be moving right to left. My reloads heading that direction (I'm right handed) are awkward (and that's putting it mildly), being very conscious of the 180. Is there an 'best practice' for this type reload ? I'm not talking about shooting while moving (I'm still a bit new for that). I'm talking about running between shooting positions. JimInFL
  9. Although I'm pretty new to this, I just happen to chrono mine a day or two ago, so I'll share. 7.7 gr Silhouette 125 gr Zero JHP 1.162 OAL -and- Same using True Blue. Averages between 171.5 and 172.5 PF, with the TB the higher of the two. This is in a Jim Anglin full size gun. I kind of like the 'feel' of the TB a bit better, although, like I said, I'm still pretty green to this. No pressure signs that I can identify. (edited to add - Winchester small rifle primers) JimInFL
  10. Spend a little time here looking around. Lot's of good information from folks that are basically replicating what we do in USPSA. Everyone I've talked to there is very open to offering advice, and these folks really know their stuff about airsoft. http://www.aaps-federation.org/ JimInFL
