  1. The gun with the cheely looked to have about twice as much rise. Did you feel the short binary was as flat as the longer one?
  2. Powder is cheapest component of reloading. So, you're not gonna save money doing that. To me it makes the most sense to practice with what I'm going to shoot in matches. So loading down for practice isn't going to have the same feel. just my opinion
  3. I talked with him last night. Mine is about to get started. Middy Hybrid barrel Butler cut PT frame PT Grip Vario flat trigger Binary comp All black Naked slide except for rear cocking serrations Gonna be awesome!
  4. The gun is pretty sweet! I shot one a little the other day after a match. I was laying softball sized groups at 10 yds shooting very fast (.15 slpits). The Walthers are very very accurate! This one is no different! The SF shoots faltter (obviously). Best striker fired trigger! Set up for CO! I think it's definitely a step up from the poly q5!
  5. He's got to be close to starting mine! Hopefully this week!
  6. Yeah but there's a difference in not being 100% when you bust out the tape and being off be a few feet visable by just looking
  7. Classifier are extremely or can be to set up correct! Half assing them, is not ok IMO! That's why, if I was MD, I'd choose the simplest ones. The ones with a lot of walls, no shoots, and far distance targets are easier to set up incorrect. The last MD at this club used a freaking range finder to set them up. If it's within a yard I guess he thought that was good enough. Luckily he got ran off!
  8. To be fair to him, he's new to the job and he's worried folks were going to feel like they didn't get their money's worth if it got throw out. Most everyone in my squad bombed it so bad they won't count for score. Though, that's besides the point.
  9. A classifier gets set up and you can spot that it's not per the diagram with the naked eye, do you throw it out? 18-01 got set up at my local club. The two boxes are supposed to be 7.5' on each side of the centerline of the stage. When standing in the left box, you're basically in a straight line with the most left target. The right box does not fall out mirrored. It fell between the last and secound to last. It was obvious they were not mirror images by at least a couple of feet. I brought it up to the MD while my squad was shooting it (we were the first) he said he'd look at it. When I brought it up after the match, he said he asked the squad he was on if they felt it was a big enough deal (paraphrasing). I guess they didnt? IMO, if there's something thats obviously not correct to, it's not set up correct for a classifier and should not be uploaded as one. It can still count for match score but shouldn't count for a classifer. Again, we're talking about an issue that is obvious without measuring. Thoughts?
  10. I've been using 124 gr PD JHP w/7.0 gr WAC. When I first started shooting open I couldn't feel a difference between any powder I tired. Now I can tell a difference between the WAC load and this load. I don't feel it's very significant but the 115/AA7 is flatter. I don't really care though, I can shoot about as fast as I can pull the trigger (.13’s) with the WAC load and still put them in a softball sized group at 10yds. I don't care what the dot does or far it goes up. I just pull the trigger when it's where it needs to be. I'll probably end up with AA7/115 cause I think it's cheaper. I've tried all the other major powders, but I can't tell much difference since they all fall in between WAC and AA7. When the buzzer goes off, they all feel the same.
  11. CK Thunder 3 holes 10.35 gr AA7 115 PD JHP @ 1.160" Hornady mixed brass once fired Win SPP 2/3 /19 @ 11:45 am overcast, 60 degrees 10 shot string 1486 1508 1479 LO 1518 1484 1511 1501 1484 1532 HI 1484 AV 1498 ES 53 SD 18
  12. Are these ok? 115 gr JHP w/10.3 AA7 - Win SPP. CK thunder - 3 holes 8lb recoil spring To me, the flattening is very small. How much is acceptable?
  13. I borrowed one for a few weeks and shot about 500 rnds thru it. The SF has a fatter grip and I prefer it to the plastic grip. I feel you can get a better hold/grip on the gun for fast shooting. The grip lengths are the same (or very close). Folks with xlarge hands feel it's a little short. I have med/large and it doesn't bother me. With the thicker grip, I have to shift the gun in the hand to reach the mag release. On the plastic Q5 I didn't have to shift the gun at all. That doesn't bother me because I'm used to doing it.
  14. My CK runs 100%. Though, I'm waiting on my custom build from Venom Custom. No more buying "stock" open guns.
  15. Shot a Q5 SF today. Really liked it! As fast as I could pull the trigger (.15’s) at 10 yds, baseball sized group in the A zone! I like!
  16. I've not shot the DVC Open. I briefly had a 3 gun. Didn't like it. I personally, think the STI guns are not worth the $. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?. 4k just seems high for all that? I'd try to buy something else. Just my opinion. Good luck.
  17. I wouldn't switch to either gun, if I was already set up shooting one of them. Well,... I might.... But I'm stupid like that!
  18. This one had a great trigger. Though, the triggers are different. I can't really give the edge to one or the other. They're different. Which would I rather have? CZ. But that's not enough for me to declare the CZ a better gun. The grip on the Q5 is a little different. The magwell isn't as beveled as it could be. Which grip would I rather have? CZ In my mind, there's no perfect gun. I believe its the shooter, not the gun. Though we gotta pick one, right? I had to choose one for production, it'd be the Shadow. If I was choosing one for Carry Optics, I'd choose the Walther. The extra money/time spent to get the CZ running isn't worth it, IMO. If the DA/SA is a problem, the Q5 is the choice.
  19. Shot the Q5 SF today. It's awesome! Hard to beat a CZ though! I'd probably choose CZ!
  20. Nope. My new gun will be here in a few weeks. I'm still shooting open. Just a different gun.
  21. I'm not changing. But yes I do change often. I think I'm set for this year in open.
