    X-5 Comp

All I'm seeing from the photo is the cut on the ouside of the dust cover, any idea how much weight this cut.

    X-5 Comp

Anybody had a tune up package from GGI with the lightning cuts? Just wondering how much weight they trim from the gun. I think the X-5 could stand to cut at least 4-5 ounces. Does anybody else, like Matt, offer a tune-up pakage that includes trimming some weight.

    226 X-5 conversion

Has anybody tried the 226 22 conversion on an X-5? And how reliable are they, don't really want to invest in a jam-o-matic.

    X-5 Lube

Matt, that was sort of what I was getting at, when I used the Sig grease and magnalube most of it ended up on the end of the slide when I put the gun back together. I'm not a gunsmith, but the x-5 seems to be fitted about as tight as my STI Eagle. I guess the question was does grease offer more protection, or should I just keep the rails lubed with FP10 and not worry about it.

    X-5 Lube

I have read from several sources, GGI being one, that seem to prefer grease type lube's. As tight as these things are fitted, is grease a must. I primarily use FP10 in my STI's. I ran about 50 rounds through my X-5 in about 20 degree temps, the gun was lubed with Magnalube and it ran fine, just wondering what the general consensus is.

    X-5 loads

This gun is fairly heavy, does it need at least 130 pf to run? What the max OAL with the mags.

    x-5 extended pads

18 in the gun is not bad at all, really not giving up as much as I thought.

    x-5 extended pads

Matt, what is the capacity of the 9mm with the mousetrap pads?
  9. I might be interested in the new guide rod and spring. Can you post something when you finalize the design.
  10. Price wise from what I have seen, Ghostholster(Angus) at $1575, and Buds Guns, around $1606. My understanding is that the Max Michel Sig was set up by Bedell, but I can't say for sure. I have not heard anything negative about GGI(Bruce Gray).

    x-5 extended pads

P.S., if you watch the Max Michel Youtube Sig shooting tips video's, the pads he uses do not look like Sig, they appear to be much larger. I have no idea if they are mousetrap pads?

    x-5 extended pads

I'm going to try a few Mec-Gar 18 AFC with the plus 2 pads(already have the pads). One of the questions I have is, what is max capacity on a Sig 9mm or 40 mag and still make 140 gauge, and what components. I saw some of the 20 round Sig mags, but when loking at them I'm not sure they would accept a plus two pad.

    x-5 extended pads

Hey Matt, how do you contact this guy?

    x-5 extended pads

Can anyone give the info on the guy who makes the extended pads for the x-5. The Sig alum. pads are $65 each, and I'm not real fond of the Mec-Gar + 2's. Thanks
  15. I'm with gb32 on this topic. Dewey Rods, Pro Shot patches, and Butch's Bore Shine. I use FP-10, as well as other lubes, don't really have a favorite.
  16. I loaded up about 400 115 Zero HP recently with 4.5gr of 231. Accuracy was great and they shot very soft. Cant give you a velocity but it might be sub minor. Also loaded up several hundred with 4.4gr Titegroup and they shot equally as well. All were loaded at 1.15. Pistol was a 5" Eagle with Schuemann barrel. I recently bought 1000 of the Rainier 124's and am having a hell of a time finding an accurate combination. A lot of vertical with Solo and 7625, and groups generally in the 3 to 4 inche range at 25.
  17. Jeff, I have had similar issues wth a set of Redding dies(40-10mm), and I tend to agree with Ronemus on this. I went so far as to grind my shell holder on my single stage press to see if made a difference. I have noticed one thing in my situation, the nickel plated brass seems to spring back more, as I have had no issues with regular brass. I have been culling the brass that does not "feel right" when I expand the case mouth, but that does not solve your problems on a progressive press. I don't know if my sizer is oversize, or if Speer nickel plated brass is the problem. I'm thinking about a EGW U-die.
  18. I'll put in another vote for Solo 1000. I tried to find the load data that was posted some time ago for Solo, but could not find it. Here is some 9mm data from what I printed out. 115 Hornady FMJRN 1.114 3.6gr. to 4.0gr. 1037fps 31,000 CUP 115 Hornady JHP 1.030 3.7gr. to 4.1gr. 1085fps 31,300 CUP 124 Hornady FMJRN 1.114 3.7gr. to 4.1gr. 1028fps 31,600 CUP I have tried it in 38 Super and Solo is very mild. I shoot it in 40 and love it.
  19. I admit I've never tried 320, but if I was looking for a 40 minor powder, it would be Solo 1000. Been shoting it for 2 years now with 155's. At 4.7 grs. it runs about 146pf in my gun, and you could easily go lower. I stayed with the 147pf loads because one of the places I shoot has poppers that need the pf. It is less snappy than TG and burns pretty clean. I would not consider it a great powder for metering, but overall it's a great powder for minor. Never tried to make major with it, but there is a recent post on it if yo do a search.
  20. I've bought a Edge about 6-7 years ago. I have fired a bunch of rounds through it and love it. I have owned one Glock, and it was a 35. Although I liked the Glock, it's not a 1911. You can tune a Glock trigger all you want, but it's still no comparison IMO. Buy as many mags as you can afford and shoot the hell out of it.

    Transitions

This is exactly the type of breakdown I was looking for. I now have some reference points to think about, and try to "feel" when practicing. Thanks.

    Transitions

Thanks for the responses. Flex, it's a little cold here now, guess I'll have to try this in the basement.

    Transitions

I have decided that I need to work on transitions. At the end of this year I started to work some on snapping my eyes. I'm trying to evaluate exactly what I'm doing, and what I SHOULD be doing. As you transition between targets, I assume you should be maintaing your index(everything from the waist up). If I am trying to isolate what my lower body is doing, should I be looking at this as more of a push(with my left hip if I am shooting left to right), or a turning motion coming from my hips, knee, and ankles. I occasionally feel myself pulling(from my right side while shooting left to right for instance), and when doing this feel it is more difficult to brake at the target. I'm trying to get a clearer idea of how to "think" about this so I can develope some muscle memory.
  24. Pual, I just ordered the same barrel, it was my understanding that you should have no problem loading to 1.2. Interesting to see the other responses, but I would definately avoid loading into the lands.
  25. Thanks Pat. Based on the info on the Barry Mount, I think that will be my choice.
