I bought one of his 170s and it had problems from the start (spring seemed too weak and took a set almost immediately.) I think a fair number of folks had that problem.
I emailed adrian and told him what was happening. He sent me a new spring and follower (spring seemed much stronger.) The mag is now 100%. Seems to have been a teething problem and they made it right. Everything else about the mag seemed quality from the start. If I neeeded another mag I'd likely buy it from MBX.

Welcome. Glad to have you.

It's ok mine, is 1x on the bottom end (when I got it adjusted) and it's bright enough that i'd say it's marginaly daylight bright (say brighter than a burris tac 30 but dimmer than a meopta, vortex razor etc.) The glass is ok and I like the recticle.
Is it a 1k+ scope? No it isn't, but seems to be a very good entry level scope. Will it hold zero and hold up I guess time will tell.

I load 24.7 gr of h335 with hornady 55 fmj bt w canalure from the handy 6000 pack. I load them as long as they will go without binding in the mags and without touching the rifling. That load in decent brass is usually moa ish from my guns.

Thanks for the pointer I was able to pick one up from them this afternoon.

Tom, Which flavor of 6 Grendel did you end up with (6mm ar or 6mm rat or 6mm grendel)I am very happy with my 6 Grendel. I looked hard at a 6.5 Grendel but went with the 6mm version.
With 105gn Berger Hybrids going about 2700, my 6 Grendel shoots inside the 6.5 120/123gn bullets with ease.

Yep had both of the tabs on the spring retainer clip break on the aftec in my open gun. Gun was still working fine, I only found it when I stripped the gun for routine maintenance. It seems to be a somewhat freak occurence as its the first time I have ever had it happen and I have had aftecs in my guns for at least 15 years.

I had the same thing happen to mine... first the strain screw backed out. Then the rear sight screw started backing out.
When I get some time I am going to clean and blue loctite every screw on the dang thing.

I found the hornadys to be very sensitive to oal and how much jump they had to the rifling (at least in my guns).
My best geoups with them were when I seated them as long as I could without them hanging up in the mags or (or without them touching the rifling). I think that is caused by the nose profile being different and less "self centering" somehow when they enter the bore (something to do with having a secant ogive I suspect.)

Walked the stages today (shooting tomorrow should be a great match.)

Thing with the round count is even if they shot 1000 rounds of 40 per year for 20 years that would be less than a serious USPSA shooter puts through a gun like that in 2 years.

Not sure i'd pay that for a used gun with no ability to examine or shoot it prior to purchase.
However, as for quality, I owned an early vintage sv which if I recall correctly had a schumann barrel.(Not sure when they went with in house barrels as the ad states though?) I never had any issues with it quality or otherwise. I was at least the 4th owner of it and other than a worn finish from use it was still tight and accurate when I sold it a couple of years ago to someone who needed a good limited gun.
So is a new SV better quality than an old one, very probably.
But my impression of the quality of the old one I had was that the fit and finish was a good bit better than the factory sti pistols of the day. I don't think Sandy made any junk.
Pm our host, I believe he was sponsored by/shot an SV back in the day, he might have a perspective on them?
Call brandon and ask him what the story is on them. I am sure he'll give you a straight answer.

Yes that kit is the one I use. The last one I did I actually used that kit to put the ball detent into the sidewinder racker instead of the slide.
Ahh cool. I want to fit a sidewinder xl to my tanfog slide. You had enough thickness to put the ball in the racker? Any pics and/or tips for us? They would be gratefully received!
If I can remember I'll dig the gun out tonight and take a picture... but yes I had room (but measure carefully to get the hole centered otherwise you'll punch through the side of the racker). I also ended up clipping the spring a bit so it didn't stack solid.

Thanks much, I'll go check that out.
I had done something like this when I was bored one day with one of the sensors from an old optical-mechanical computer mouse (the kind that have the notched wheels inside them) and a microcontroller board. It was mostly a proof of concept though as I was going to have to fab a housing for the sensor. That looks like a much nicer option.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of photo switch are you using?

If I get to a match and it starts to rain I'll finish the match. What I won't do anymore is drive through a rain storm to shoot in the rain. I just don't love doing this that much anymore.

I think you are on to something. I pulled the spring and follower out of the tube. The first thing I noticed was that the nose of the follower (when pointed away from me) was rotated slightly (maybe 15 to 20 degrees) to the right I straightened that a bit and put a bit more up on the nose of the follower. It seems to load a bit easier now and the rounds seem to pop up really quickly in the mag so that seems hopeful. I'll give it a live fire sometime this weekend and see if that's gonna get it. If that doesn't get it I'll give them a shout and see what the suggest. They are good folks so I am sure they can get me going.
Ok I'll give that a look.
Had the same thing happen with my 38super. I adjusted the front angle of the follower up a bit and it solved the round tipping forward issue.I guess I need to mess with mine a bit. It holds 29 reloadable of 9mm major but it pretty repeatably pukes torward the end of the mag (say after 24 or 25). Gun runs fine with the old fashioned sv mags I normally use.
I need to call them when I get a chance and see what they recomend.
Otherwise looks to be an excellent mag

Will get at least one nose dive failure to feed.
