Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have tried bullets from 100gn-165gn in my PCCs. In general, I find that a lighter bullet with more powder results in a flat shooting. My favorite load in my JP5 is 100gn Berry with 7.3gn of Vihtavuori 3N38. It has a PF of 128 in my PCC. If you want commercial ammo Super-Vel 100gn Blitz is a flat shooting with a PF about 130.
  2. I have used 4.5gn of N320 with 115gn bullets. It has a PF of 128 in my JP5. It is a flat shooting load.
  3. I have one in 45 ACP and am not familiar with any of their other calibers. It is a flat shooter mostly due to the bolt movement, position of the barrel and the weight. It has a lot of take up in the trigger but, is easy to modify. Too heavy for competitive shooting for me. I use a JP5. Mine is for home defense.
  4. I agree completely with Haywizzle. I have used a 510 on a JP5 I use for USPSA and 3 other PCCs. I haven't tried anything that has made me second guess that decision. For the money a Holosun 510 can't be beat and the 507 comp is a good consideration. The only reason for an EOTech is for rough use.
  5. I bought a Kriss Vector in 45 ACP for home defense. I shoot a JP5 in USPSA but, wanted the extra energy the 45 provides. It uses Glock mags and there are many good extensions from Taylor Freelance, Taran Tactical and others. That with the recoil management inherent in the Kriss is the reason I chose it, The one downside is it is heavy,
  6. Thanks, for the write up. I shoot a JP-5 and was interested in the MEAN upper. Informative and thorough.
  7. I have a SD3G in my JP5 and it works great after several thousand rounds. I have also used a RA 535 in an MBX that was an outstanding trigger. The Hyperfire Eclipse in a Taran Tactical is the best trigger I have shot. The bottom line is personal preference. How you want them to break and at what weight.
  8. The OAL is correct. I haven't shot the 100's in a match yet. I got an order of Super Vel 100s the other day and am going to compare them to Titegroup and N320 100s.
  9. I got the following with Titegroup, 100gn Berry hollow base, sig cases, CCI primers, OAL 1.145 4.4gn avg vel 1252/ spread 59/ SD 21 / pf 125 4.5gn 1288/ 36/ 15/ 128 4.6gn 1328/ 17/ 7/ 132 Vihtavuori N320 works better for me 4.8gn for 100s (PF 128) and 4.5 for 115s (PF 131) These are in a JP-5
  10. I just placed an order yesterday with Midway for the 100 Berrys. I have a lot of Titegroup and will have some data in a couple weeks.
  11. I believe you need to install the safety after you set the trigger in place but, before the pins are installed. I tried a Timney Calvin in mine and it wouldn't reset the trigger. I went back to the JP. Let us know how it works.
  12. MBX has a sale over the 4th. JULY10/JULY15/JULY20 are the codes for $0-249/250-399/>399
  13. MBX makes some outstanding metal mags. You just have to swallow hard when you pay for them. They are easy to clean, let you load to a longer OAL if you wish and work well with a magnet holder. I have been well satisfied with the Holosun 510Gr.
  14. Thanks, I appreciate the reply and advice. The take up on the JP is what I don't like and would prefer 2# instead of # 3/4# but, it does have a nice reset.
