-JQ-
I know this has been discussed but I just heard to totally different individuals saying the same thing. Radio interview: Leo Kottke, a guitar virtuoso, was asked what he thinks about while playing...as he had his eyes closed while he plays. He said "nothing". Discovery Channel last night: There was a guy who is the crazy skilled at paddle ball (the kind you play with as a kid - ball attached to a wooded paddle by a rubber band). He demo'd various tricks and such, then he proceeded to do 4 at once, one in each hand and one on each knee...he kept all four balls flying in synch. The interviewer asked how he did that - what song did he hear in his head to keep rhythm ? He said you can't think of anything while doing this. He said I keep my mind empty - "gray". Wow. I just thought I'd pass this along. It seems like someone is trying to tell me something. These were both within 12 hours of each other. Sam
A truly great rifle shooter told me once while we were practicing: "flat". Like no brain activity at all.

kaiserb
The guy with the paddle balls was super talented, he seems to have committed the skills to his subconscience. http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/time-warp-...ball-champ.html
