BigDave
I like the Matrix. Yes, it is fantasy/sci-fi. I don't care. I remember when I saw it in the theatre during the original release "wow, those writers were definately under the influence of something, something illegal probably". The gun play? Yeah, it was over the top. But so was the story!!! It was the product of an emense imagination and what was possible (at the time) with special effects. Did I care that K. Reeves was doing backflips with 100 lbs of guns and ammo? Hell no. According to the story, he was supposed to!!! Did I confuse that with reality? Hell no. Its nice (for me) to sit back and let the mind wonder every now and again.
rhino
Agreed 100%. Especially in this case . . . in this story, a major plot point is that some of the characters can purposely bend the laws of their physical universe. It's part of the story! The guy who bends them the farthest and hardest wins the fights, i.e. Neo. I used to be hypercritical of movies with respect to "realism" in many areas, but I finally realized I was compromising my own enjoyment of the film. I learned to relax and enjoy it for what it is. D.Hayden
This is cool - I like there's a 'I Hate', and 'I Like' the same day on the same subject. Everyone's got an opinion and no-ones wrong
3quartertime
I agree,,,the matrix movies are cool eye-candy. I haven't seen the last two but I'm looking forward to getting around to it. Realizm in movies isn't necesary in some contexts. For example I really don't believe that there are attention needy porn stars hitch-hiking across the country just looking for a good time, but I can still enjoy the cinematic genius of the idea. Garfield
Yep, I agree: I like the Matrix too. Yesterday night I watched "the making of revolutions" followed by the Matrix part I on the television. I was a bit disappointed about the Matrix Reloaded, but I am definitely going to see "Revolutions". When I first saw the Matrix part I, I was stunned. What a movie. Not so many movies "catch" me nowadays, but this one did. I liked the action, the story, the actors, the special effects, etcetera. Funny thing: When I studied at the University, I wrote a large essay about Artificial Intelligence, so I am not unfamiliar with the subject and I still like to think about it from time to time. Especially when it's served in a "Matrix" format ! :-)
Jake Di Vita
I love the premise. I also think that the authors wrote some of it as an insight to the audience.
dajarrel
I got scolded for putting a "happy" post on the "hate" forum, so I'll just copy it over to this one!!!!! You guys are all correct. (about the fiction) Because they are in a computer generated world, they shoot too many bullets of the wrong type, carry too many guns, fly through the air, etc, etc, etc.... But it's a heck of a story!!!!!!! Everyone has a genre of movie they like or dislike. I happen to like Science Fiction/Fantasy. As Morpheus says, "Free your mind" The Matrix has you Waiting in line for my ticket Dennis
dajarrel
Well I went and saw it last night. Did I like it? If it hadn't been so late when I got out, I would have bought another ticket right then!!!! Dennis
