Just Thinkin
Hey all, I purchased 500 moly, 200 grain 40 cal bullets. Comparing to straight lead bullets I have, they are very inconsistent in dia. Measuring a sample of ten bullets, they range from .4010 to .4020. Concentrisity is as much as .0008 from the max dia. where the straight lead bullets measure a max variance of .0004. They also have a rough finish compared to the straight lead bullets I have. Is this normal for moly bullets or should I change brands? These measurements were taken with a micrometer rather than a caliper. I'm new at this reloading so I'm hoping the experienced loaders can add some knowledge to this old head. If this is typical of moly coated bullets I'll pass! Regards,

MemphisMechanic
You were supposed to spot that, and load a couple magazines worth anyway. Then, when they grouped just fine, you wouldn't have needed to ask. (Now go check the weight variation. If you're this meticulous, and they're like the 147 Black Bullets I run, that'll really freak you out) Edited April 23, 2009 by MemphisMechanic
Silver_Surfer
Thats pretty good for cast/moly. Far better that some of the .403's that someone had. Sounds like you bought Precision Bullets. I love those bullets! You can load them long and they work!
