Loading .338 Lapua Magnum

Dear forum,

Just got a new rifle (waited 10 months for it) and need to load for it. I started searching for components and found out most companies don't have everything in stock in one place. Any good sources you guys/gals go to for most of the stuff? Just those Federal 215 primers seem hard to get.

I was going to start with IMR 4350 and some 250-300 grainers.

Which press should i order and with what other tool accessories? Is the Redding T-7 a good press to use?

Which dies should i order? Along with digital powder measure???

Thanks guys for helping with a new rifle loader. This place is the best!

What i mean is; i want to buy the good stuff the first time....

jj

I have reloaded very little for my .338 but so far I have purchased my dies from Sinclair. The Sizer has a bushing for the neck diameter. The seater is a micrometer type. I don't remember the brands right now. I use 250gr Scenars because my TRG doesn't like 300gr. For powder I use Retumbo. It is very accurate with this. I also bought a hand priming tool and use Federal large rifle magnum match primers. Someone should post soon that has more experience. There is a LOT of info on the Sniper's Hide website if you don't find it here.

Good luck.

As for dies, I like to use: Redding Competition Bushing 3-Die Neck Sizer Set 338 Lapua Magnum

Your choice in press is pretty good, I run a Forster though.

Primers can be a bit tricky at the moment, I usually visit the usual sights a couple of times a week. These sites include Powder Valley, Bruno, Huntington, Natchezss, Cabelas or Midway.

You may want to check out www.6mmbr.com as well.

Sinclair International should have a lot of the stuff you need.

Hey, thanks for the replies. It looks like it's going to be a multiple supplier order :)

Been attempting to upload some pics of the rifle. Any tips?

Try 78.2gr/IMR4350 under the 300gr Sierra Mk.

87.0gr/Retumbo with the 300gr'er is good to.

H1000 is a good powder too. 92.0gr under the Lapua 250gr Scenar.

Welcome to the madness.
