686+
Hi, I finally decided on the Millet DMS-1 and a LaRue or JP mount. I have some questions I hope you can answer ( I searched but did not find some of the answers) Will the JP mount put the scope forward like a LaRue SPR-E? Is it high enough for comfortable shooting? Will it clear the front sight? Is the SPR-E the mount I want or is it the SPR? Will the scope and SPR-E be high enough to clear the front sight? Is there an other scope mounts to consider like the GG&G? 686+
Chris
Both mounts are 1.5 inches above the rail. The SPR-E has a lot of eye relief built in and is mainly made for the Trijicon Accupoint scope. You most likely want the SPR mount if your scope has normal eye relief in the 3" range. I have the SPR-E mount for my Accupoint and its a very solid mount. I've seen the JP mount and it looks very good as well.
jobob
Another good mount is the Armalite. http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item...59-bafe17a66e1e I have a carbine I put a Hahn Precision extended rail on. Then mounted my Accupoint to the .5" elevated rail with Leupold low or mid height QD rings. That works well, too. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/Pro...%20SCOUT%20RAIL http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/Pro...20BASE%20SYSTEM
686+
So I need to figure out how much relief the scope has. Jobob, thanks for the sugestions, but I really want to just go with a one piece for the mount.
blkbrd
I have a long neck and the SPR-E is what I use with my Millet. It was the recommended mount from LaRue it gives me the proper sight picture with the Millet. As to clearing the front sight, nothing will. The idea isn't to co witness like a red dot, you tend to look straight through the front sight and get just a ghost image from it.
norbs007
Replace the front sight or simply cut it down and refinish. Check this link and scroll down where it shows how to cut the front sight with a dremel.
High Lord Gomer
I've never measured, but it feels like I must position my eye closer than 3" to get a decent picture through my DMS-1.
686+
So I have a slight problem in that I have never shot a A4 socped rifle and do not know where my nose will end up! I will assume a 3" eye relief and figure out where my head and eye end up on the rifle. But I am guestimating that I can always scoot the mount back a bit to adjust the eye relief since all the pictures I have seen seem to have the mount right at the front edge of the reciever. Hopefully I can get that done this weekend. Thanks.
