M1A Scope Mounts

I have heard that there are some bad scope mounts for the M1A. So, which are the good ones? Supposedly, mine is not the Springfield mount - rather the "government issue' mount. It has "U.S. Government" stamped on one side and "supposedly" costs $300. So, I am wondering which one I have? Can anyone identify it for me and tell me if I want it or not? Thanks.

I've owned three different Springfield Armory M1A scope mounts over the years, but not one exactly like yours. From the pictures it looks like it ought to be rock solid.

If you are getting consistant sized groups and consistant group placement each time you take it out without fooling with the adjustments it ought to be GTG.

I'd run with it unless there were issues.

Two mounts that I had heard were good were ARMS and Brookfield Precision. I imagine that the ARMS would be so marked. Try looking up Brookfield Precision.

That definately isn't a Springfield.

Correction, it is a Smith Enterprise wire EDM mount. Retails for $275.

Smith Enterprise M14 scope mounts are reputed to be amongst the best, with extra tolerance to accommodate variations in the dimensions of various M1A/M14 receivers.
