cnjaxx
How can I stop the powder slinging when indexing the 650 press?
GardenWeasel
This is from the 650 FAQ section: To prevent the shellplate from snapping into position as it cycles (thus spilling powder), clip the spring under the detent ball. Clip only half a coil. Edited July 28, 2008 by benos edited to add link
benos
In addition to clipping that spring, it helps to keep the the bolt that tightens down the Shellplate adjusted as tightly as possible, so it "just indexes." Also, lube the bottom side of the Shellplate and and the adjustment bolt (where it touches the Shellplate) with a good sticky grease (like Slide-Glide). ;-) Which also helps to slow it's indexing speed down. be

n2ipsc
In addition to the preceding (clipping coils, tightening & greasing shellplate bolt...)... "Brake" the charged case into position under the seating die with your left middle and ring finger while setting the bullet in place with your left index finger and thumb, rather than letting it "snap" into place via the detent ball. Takes next to no practice for this to become natural and works. If you're using a KISS (or other) bullet feeder, the same principle applies - just apply some light pressure to the charged case rather than letting it snap into place unrestrained and life is good...
