I'm begining to realize that Dillon is a great place to buy reloading components. I recently purchaced some 500 S&W brass, that was unavaliable everywhere else, and Dillon had it. The kicker was, that it was cheeper than most places. I have also brought holsters, and other things from Dillon, and have never disapointed with the quality. I'm going to buy other components from them

What you are experiencing, is growing pains. I kinda went through the same type of things, when I set up my 650. I called Dillon, and really found out how dumb I really was. The guy on the other end of the phone, walked me through the setting up process, (all of which was in the manual) and I have never had a problem again, that I couldn't solve. Dillon Rules

Whats up Neal Neal In Cowpens South Carolina -
Case feeder is the thing. I have two RF 100s, and I only use them if I am pumping out a lot of ammo, using the 650

My 550 arived this morning. I have always known that Dillon would do a superb job, but opening that box was nothing but pure joy. The press is as good or better that new. It was even repowder coated. It is like drinking cool water from grandma's well, in the hot summertime, just to know that there is a company like Dillon, In the USA. I LOVE DILLON

I blew up two primer tubes on my 650, and I use Winchester primers. Both times, It was my fault. My problem was, that I really didn't fully understand the operation, nor was I up on the adjustments. Dillon sent me the new primer systems, and walked me through the operation. I have since reached reloading nurvana, reloading thousands and thousands of all types of rounds. Another thing is that you will develope a feel for the lever when you really get into it. You will actually know when something isn't right just by the feel, when you push and pull the lever. Hang in there. When you get over that initial learning curve, You'll find that you won't be blowing up primer tubes (not saying that it won't happen) and you will find, that your money was well spent.

May buy a 650. What is my like new 550B worth?
cnjaxx replied to KeithB's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I have a 650, and two 550s. The 650 is a great press, but I think that the 550 is the greatest press ever contrived You'll be sorry if you sell it -

My main shaft is wobbling around a bit, and just about all of the arms had play in them. I started having alignment problems, but it was somewhat an inconvience. It still made fair ammo, but not as good as the newer model that sits next to it.

I just sent my 550 in for overhaul. It is hard to live without that machine. I'm actually feeling some anxioity because my beloved machine is not here . How long will it take them to send my baby back home?

Lousey Dillon equipment......#@%!
cnjaxx replied to JDBraddy's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
You guys are right. That Dillon makes some really bad equipment. That's why I have 2 550s and a 650, and am adding another 650, with a bullet feeder. -
I had some left over from my old reloading days. They were aproxx. 4-5 yrs old. They kept jamming up the primer system. In frustation, I yanked on the handle, and Kaboom

I recently loaded some 270 workup rounds on my 650. The first round out of the box, was badly overcharged. It flatened out the primer, so bad, that it had to be pryed of of the firing pin. Unfortunately, the gun was tore up, but no one was hurt. I have made thousands and thousands on rounds on this machine, and have never had a problem. Backtracking my steps, I can't think of anything that I did wrong, (although I'm not counting that out). I took the rest of the rounds apart, and they were all perfect. Has any one ever had a problem such as this, and can anyone shed some light on what may have went wrong, or what I may have did wrong?

Manual Primer Feeding

I would really like to use some of those powders, such as Reloader 19, and 22. Has anyone used them in a Dillon machine? If so, how did they meter?

That's a fact Jack

I load a lot or 30-06, 270, 25-06, and 308 on the 650. I used a magnum powder bar for some of the heavier 06 loads. I use the spray lube, dump them in the auto case feeder, and let her rip. You can do a lot of them in a hurry too. Makes real good accuate ammo. It dosen't take much effort to resize. On my bolt action rounds, I only neck size when I reload them.
