pevadijk
I have a problem with an Ice magwell on my brandnew Glock 17C. It seems that the brass plugs that needs to be inserted in the frame cavity, is a bit too small, is this a known issue? When I install the magwell as stated in the instructions, the brass plug is pulled into the direction of the 'gap', pulling the magwell downwards at the front, leaving an ugly gap. When the magwell is installed like this, my Dawson basepads won't seat fully, so something must be wrong :-(

When I install the magwell as stated in the instructions, the brass plug is pulled into the direction of the 'gap', pulling the magwell downwards at the front, leaving an ugly gap. When the magwell is installed like this, my Dawson basepads won't seat fully, so something must be wrong :-( I had one for a while and found it a little finicky, but was able to set it up. My first try, IIRC, gave me the same result you have. Eventually I could press the plug where it should be but then found some interference with my TruGrip, which required a little trimming to get the magwell to fit snugly...then I had to dremel out the edges of the plastic insert so my Arredondo base pad would fit. Reminded me why I shoot Production. With a couple of insertions with a CAREFUL increase in pressure, if it's close, you may be home free. IIRC, the plug is kinda tapered and it's that last fraction of an inch that hangs up on a virgin frame cavity. Therefore, a little more pressure may be less damaging than you think. YMMV so be careful and good luck.
BayouSlide
One more idea: going on memory, here, the problem actually might have been the magwell wasn't fitting tight on the grip, so tightening the screw to the plug pulls the front part up. Make sure the magwell fits evenly and tightly to the frame...you could kinda feel the end of the grip squeezing in a tiny bit as you pressed the magwell into place. Took a little more effort than I thought.

coltgov
Mine is a 17c and it fits perfectly! All mags drop free! You can do it! Push that plug down until you can line up the backstrap hole with the plugs screw hole. Then put that backstrap screw in. Tighten it. Slip the front of the magwell on the gun first. Then push down the back part. Insert the bottom screw and tighten it. Lastly snap in the nylon insert. Edited June 15, 2008 by coltgov
