HSMITH
Standard rod, by a lot. I don't like the feel of a two stage rod and a standard rod is more rubust.

boz1911
To me, the recoilmaster feels like a snake got in my gun when I shoot. The impulse is just strange, maybe not bad, just strange.
Chris Keen
Standard rod, by a lot. +1 Recoil Master sux. In fact I don't even like the standard guide rods. I run a plastic one. Lighter is better. Edited March 23, 2008 by CHRIS KEEN

G-ManBart
Standard guide rod....not even close. Right now I have three RM's on my bench that I need to list in the classifieds.
mikegot38
Which do you Prefer, Recoil Master or Standard Guide rods in your open guns? I have both and it depends on the gun and the shooter. On my shorty uns with recoil master I cannot tell the difference. On the full lenthg gun it feels a little odd.
AWLAZS
My gun came with the RM in it and it is still there. I don't notice any snake like action when I shoot.
BSeevers
RM or whatever they called it before STI bought it sucked then and now
Chris Keen
.... and always will. Goofy dual spring set-ups are hard to diagnose when things don't work right.

Turtle
I've seen so many of the Recoil Master's break, is it really worth it? That's not a rhetorical question, I'm actually asking... I've only ever tried (shot Phil's gun...don't know if he still uses one) them in a Limited gun platform, but I just didn't like the recoil impulse. For me the main issue is reliability, so I go with what is less likely to break.
