frickster
www.uniquetek.com/site/696296/product/T1281 Has anyone used one of these? I'm thinking of trying it out. A tighter shellplate and less friction to boot sounds good to me.
Chills1994
I tried clicking on that link, but it would not go through for me. If it is what I think it is, then I think it is just a solution looking for a problem. I don't know how much it costs, but I think you could achieve the same results with a 2 dollar drill bit, maybe a 3 dollar tap, and some set screws, maybe 10 cents each. For our action pistol games, I think it's over kill. Your press might actually run or work better with a little play in the toolhead too. Watching a G. David Tubb reloading video, it would seem that running a just bullet-ed rifle round up into the bullet seating die 3 times, spinning the round a 1/4 of a turn each time would do more for accuracy than that kit. And that's for guys who wear those thick bulkey coats in the middle of a Camp Perry summer shooting between 600 and 1,000 yards
boz1911
I use that kit, and it did help reduce OAL variations a bit. My press seems to run fine with the die plate bolted in.
frickster
It is a Flat roller bearing between 2 trust washers sits in the indexer star so the bolt doesn't rub on the indexing star.
boz1911
Sorry, I couldn't open the link either. I thought we were talking about something else.......I'll just hide now.....
bufit323
http://www.uniquetek.com/site/696296/product/T1281 Try the above link. I certainly like the idea, but I don't know that my press needs that improvment (and I am not going to throw $50 at it just to see if I need to). The concept is good though, it would allow the shell plate to be fully tightened and thus make the case stand up perfectly straight and tall (no crunching cases on sizing or powder stage). Bearing shellplate, not tool head clamp. Looks neat (like all their stuff), but my 550'd ammo is good'nuff for me for our game, althought I love their powder micrometer for ease of setting and consistancy. I agree the powder thingie is great, the other stuff, your call. There is a thread on a competing product http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=246759 (See, it's still good to search )
RogerT
I'm not convinced it really makes that much of a difference, tightening the bolt harder would just increase the friction between the shellplate and the press, or am I missing something here? And speaking of the shellplate and the press, do you have any lube between them?
