CZ P-06

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am totally new to this forum, but Lycanthrope at pafoa.org suggested i come check it out.

I recenlt bought a CZ P-06, sending it for trigger work at ghostcustoms is way more $$$ than i have to spend.

I am looking to replace the hammer and trigger spring. I was told there was a post here on how to do it but i could not find it just browsing around.

I am wanting to eliminate the overcocking of the hammer in SA pull and reduce the DA/SA pulls to around 8lbs/4lbs respectively.

I think if I do this myself (with your help of course) i will not only save the $$$$ but will get a better understanding of my firearm.

thanks!

Welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay. This place is full of great info!

The P-06 is the .40 version of the P-01 right? I have a 75B SA and an 85 but haven't messed with the "P" guns. I wouldn't worry about the trigger spring and lighter main/hammer springs are available from Angus at ghostholster.com. I have a 13lb in my 85 for Production and no problems with Winchester or CCI small pistol primers.

Hi

I don't get what you mean by "overcoking of the hammer in SA pull"?

Could you explain, please?

the hammer is fully cocked, and when you pull in SA it brings it just a little further back, I cant see it happening but that is what I was explained to me that i am feeling. May be wrong.

CZs factory hammers have a very generous hammer hook engagement and some angle to them..this causes in single action for the hammer to cam back as the sear pushes on that angle.

it is possible to modify the factory hammer by squaring up that angle to remove the camming and to shorten the hook (the decocker guns only use one hammer hook.the other is shorter to allow clearance for the decocker.) to minimize the creep.

a competition hammer would certainly be another option..it has a nice amount of metal to allow you to fit the hammer to the sear for the amount of SA trigger you want. two things to look for..the timing of the decocker and the DA may change..and you will have to modify the left side of the hammer to allow the decocker to clear.

to smooth out the DA pull..dryfire the bejeezus out of it..also polish the trigger bar, sides of the trigger where it contacts the frame, polish the sides of the hammer, and polish the DA connector. a lighter hammer spring will help..how light will depend on the type of primers you are using.

you can also lighten some pressure on the trigger spring by rebending it..but this will be a balance as you don't want to make your trigger return too weak.

when you tear it down..watch for small parts and springs..the decocker will have the decocker spring, the sear spring and the firing pin block spring in the ejector housing.

have heard the P06 is a nice gun..enjoy

other good resource..CZshooters, CZforum

Thankyou !

Is this something I can do being someone who has never gone beyond field-stripping any of my guns? I am sure i can figure it out, its going to take me some time to digest the info. Are there any pictures.

I only have 300 rounds throught this particular pistol, from my understanding of what you wrote the DA will smooth out eventually (I do dry fire). But I need to do this stuff with the hammer to fix up the SA.

you definitely can do it yourself..

check these links..lots of good info on what you will see inside a CZ

The DA will smooth out with use..as the parts wear in and parts polish themselves..you can definitely improve it if get into the gun.. a lighter hammer spring will definitely help too...can't remember what I got in my gun..either a 15# or 16# cut 4 coils or a 13# cut a couple..

OK,

so following the first link (great pics) I have gotten to the part where you are supposed to lift the trigger assembly out. But it wont come out. My P-06 looks slightly different than the gun in the pics. It seems as if there is another pin that must come out. I am scared of not being able to get it all bcak together, or something.

any help?

P06 is a decoker gun, the sa da hammer will not fit un modified.

Be careful taking it apart you need to use slave pins or will have sprins and parts spread all around the room.

what kind of modification? Can i do it?

I was going to send it down to you guys at ghostholster but I just cant afford it and my local smith is pretty useless.
