9mm Major and N340

I was just wondering if anyone had tried loading 9mm to Major with N340. It seems like N350 is more popular but 340 falls right around HS-6, Silhouette, WAP, 7625, etc (all fairly popular major powders) on the burn rate charts. What am I missing here? Why not N340?

Yes, but never finished testing it. No pressure signs at 170pf in my gun with 125's. I don't think it will go with 115's but it might be worth trying, if I had time I would try it.

I tried it and liked it, but I don't like the price and availability.

Availability is the real issue. In the long run the price of powder is less than $10/ k using viht versus other powders. I am consyantly looking for 3n38 and n320 because I like the way it performs and the fact tht is not as dirty or smoky as other powders.

Thanks for the info. I have a pound here I thought maybe I'd play with. Local availability is a bit spotty but usually not too bad. The big issue is that it's $29.95 + tax per pound!

That's a good price. The gunshops in the Houston area, when available, sell VV powders for $31.95 per pound. If you decide you like the powder, place an order with Powder Valley and stock up a little.
