You and I are paying these guys’ salary and, instead of focusing on issues such as the national deficit that’s a time bomb for our county, wars on terrorism, the non-existent boarder, healthcare, education, etc, etc, these guys are spending their time and our money on whether a bunch of over-paid, ego-manic jackasses are putting needles in their asses.

You just don't get it Cy. It is okay for musicians, rock stars, pop stars, hollywood types and pro wrestlers to take drugs, no one cares because they are entertainers. But we're talkin' BASEBALL here. That's real! That's the American National Passtime. Kids look up to MLB players. U.S. Senator A.B. Happy Chandler resigned his Senate seat to take the job as Baseball Commissioner for crying out loud. We have people to take care of the wars and the national debt and the borders and besides,we're big enough to handle a few minor inconveniences like that. But BASEBALL! Why there ought to be a law....

As jflowers points out - it's the interstate commerce clause.

Most people don't realize that the Consitution limits the Fed government to certain listed powers. All powers not listed are reserved for the States.

The Fed government has wrongfully used the the interstate commerce clause to do an end-round on the Constitution and do whatever the hell it feels like. This "federalism" started with Lincoln and is now the norm - despite the terms of the Constitution.

This fact should alarm most Americans - but just give us TV, baseball and Britney Spears and most of us can't be bothered with that other stuff . . .

You see the powers expanded over the years, then brought back a bit (lately). Then expanded again.

Of course...there still isn't any reason to waste time in congress with it all. I seriously doubt congress looking into steriods in sports is all about the bigger issue of Federalism.
