Best Rain Cover for SLR?

Recommended Posts

Thanks to Global Warming, the rainy season started more than a month early here. I need something to cover the camera. I've seen the following, but am not sure if any of them are more practical than putting a ziplock bag over the camera and cutting holes for the lens and eyepiece:

This Kata cover is supposed to be real nice: http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pid=229&...&ProdLine=4

I don't own one, currently. Your camera can withstand light rain, etc, as it is. Its downpours that you want to be careful of. A ziplock or two and some duct tape will definitely keep you protected. If you find yourself in the rain a lot, or something, a rain cover might not be a bad investment...

What about one of the "bags" that can be used diveing under 10'feet depth. When I stoped doing UW photogarphy in the early 80s some were comeing out that had the bag sealed to a screw on lenz = you put the camera in the bag and screwed the it to the lenz glass inside.

They used to be $100 I never did buy one I had the $900 worth of Nikonos gear

Every thing went down in price off of then and now in the Camer gear. And or eveything works 10 times more gizmose.

search under SKIN diveing not Scuba

Where's Nik when you need him? :)

You rang?   I stopped studying long enough to go to the gym.....

The aquatech has a great reputation in sports photography circles ---- I survived for 15 years with a large bath towel and some garbage bags. Off course I once had to shove a 2 month old 1D into the oven to dry it out enough to make the rear display function again, but that's a whole 'nother story.....

Seriously Eric, the aquatech solutions look way better than your two options, which are pretty similar to my first set of lens rain coats, soon abandoned for the towel/garbage bag combo. Dave's kata suggestion also looks decent.....
