BDH
I'm headed down South (like really far South) to work a match, and a little concerned about the heat. I normally wear Pro-Ears on the range, and while they do a great job, I think that they will be too hot, and also, they aren't going to fit over the top of the big sun hat I bought. Anyway, I've seen more and more competitors coming through with those behind the head ear plugs. Two questions... first, how well do they work, and second, where can I pick up a pair? I've tried what I thought were the logical online sources with no luck...
buddy_fuentes
I bought mine at the hardware store where I bought my lawn mower, weed eater, and blower. They work for out door shooting, but I would rather muffs for indoor ranges. Buddy
Flexmoney
I think Tim Norris (TRNinTX) had a set on when he and BJ were in 'that state up north. There is a thread around here on them someplace. I think they are called Zems (should be an easy search). http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=05ZEM Hearing Protection And Full Brim Hats thread Monster thread in the Pistol Gear dealer section

I think it is a Columbia and it is large enough to fit over the muffs and give protection to the neck and face. Of course we do harasses him for his goofy hat. Mr Glack
Lab Safety Supply is a large supplier on line with a good variety of hearing protection. http://www.labsafety.com/store/Safety_Supp...ing_Protection/ Here is the page for the style you are looking for. http://www.labsafety.com/store/Safety_Supp.../Hearing_Bands/ Personally when I wear these around the back of my neck the band rubs on shirt collar or neck and generates an irritating noise from a stethescope effect. They are typically used under the chin which might bother you in other ways. I use push ins or custom molded for hot weather. Need the string to take them out regularly and still keep track of them. TheBlackSheep
I have to say IM a huge fan of the banded style of Howard Leight's http://www.hearingportal.com/products/products2.asp?id=15 They are great because you can just flip them out and they will stay right on your neck, they dont have huge cups to get in the way. They can get old if you have them in all day ... but nothing is worse than those huge cups sitting on your ears all day. I have never really used them inside.
