DblTrbl
I shot plates with a guy who had a set up I really liked. I am old school and he had a leather (brown) rig for the 1911. His mag carrier was an individual canted to the left close to his buckle on the left; the next carrier was a twin canted slightly and was outboard of the single carrier. It was a very well made group and the name on the back the best I could make out was Bernie Hill. He said he had been using it for about 25 years. Well made indeed. I would like to find something along the same lines if not the original. Any ideas or thoughts? John
mike cyrwus
Ernie Hill; the standard of old school gun leather. Your best best is to look on ebay for his stuff.

Is there a current maker that I could get a similar set-up from? I looked at all the holster makers on the sticky list and didn't run across any that had anything like it. I didn't even know they made the "ghost" type holters in leather. Pretty cool.

uscbigdawg
Nothing wrong with Ernie Hill Speed Leather. I was always a Safariland guy back in the ol' days. That said, consider like a 007 (I think) or 008 for a similar Safariland setup. Or, just get a 'speed' holster like a 012 or my favorite, the Ghost. uscbigdawg
Sorta? Contact Safariland for more info. I don't know if it's actually leather or a 'pleather' type thing. Either way...it's cool. Rich
Joe4d
The 010 is leather pleather, suede lined leather I think then coated with something, basically looks like Basketweeve. Oh and it is a good holster also, I have a 008 that needs a new latch (available from Midway and direct from safariland. It needs to have the fake basketweeve scratchpadded off then the leather refinished with dye, it's yours for the cost of mailing, Do a websearch for "Competition Leather holsters, plenty out there. I wanted the same type of rig till I got a good deal on my current 010 and couldnt be happier. heres a couple links I happen to have in my favorites. http://www.bulmangunleather.com/beltholster.html http://www.andrewsleather.com/ click on IPSC saddle http://www.blackhillsleather.com/ch_bhCHMS.html I also use the Galco training holster in IDPA it just squeeks by the rules.
