BOGA
Help. First time flying to another state for a match. Whats the best way to pack guns on luggage. Any paper/form to bring or fill-up at the airport? Thanks
AlamoShooter
It has to be decaired at the counter and In a lockabel case. You have to demonstrait to the counter person that it is not loaded. = It can be very funny. I recomend removing the slide. For the most part I have a preference to Drive. BritinUSA
+1 on what Alamoshooter said. I always remove the slide, and keep the slide stop in the other bag. Even if someone steals the gun it won't work. Airlines like the ammo to go in a separate bag if possible. Both cases should be hardsided. Some check-ins ask to see the gun to ensure it is unloaded, this is where the slide removal is useful. If you have disassembled the gun then you just need to hand them the barrel and they can see it is empty. Much better than waving a gun around the check-in counter. I also printout the airlines policy on guns, you can usually find this on their web-site. Just in case they have different rules or the check-in person doesn't know the details. ChuckS
Boga, This link is for the TSA http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/ass...orial_1666.shtm You should also go to your airline webpage and see what they have to say in addition to the TSA stuff. Also, use the search function here on the forums. You should be able to find a ton of info and opinions! Have a good trip, Chuck PS: I also break down the pistols for air travel. shred
Yeah a quick search on "flying with guns" (or maybe just "Flying") will turn up a ton of helpful hints.
