Religious Shooter
What sling is favored these days for the bolt rifle? What kind of slings do the successful shooters use at the tactical/sniper matches? Is that a sling thats near Terry Cross (?) nose? If it is what is it? http://www.snipershide.com/cgi-bin/ImageFo...img=120&tt= Are these cuff slings? Can anybody recommend one? http://www.snipershide.com/cgi-bin/ImageFo...img=104&tt= http://www.snipershide.com/cgi-bin/ImageFo...img=120&tt= http://www.snipershide.com/cgi-bin/ImageFo...img=128&tt= Edited August 26, 2006 by Religious Shooter

George
The Turner and the Ching slings will give the best shooting support when used as designed. The V-Tac can also provide a substantial level of shooting support in addition to Tac carry capability.
Shawn Knight
You could get really crazy and go with the Tubb Tactical Vest. http://www.davidtubb.com/vest.html
M118LR
The sling by Terry's nose is almost like the Tubb's Tactical vest. The sling is hooked to the back of the vest and then runs up over his shoulder. A very solid set-up. I use the Tactical Intervention Sling that is made by Mike Miller. The Slip cuff is the best. You can have the cuff already on your arm and when you need to sling up you just hook up to the sling and when you do not need it you just unhook. A GREAT sling. I have three of them. kurtm
Ching sling for the AR, for 3-gun and or two man team matches. For the precision rifle a good old 1907 Military sling like Turner makes. The reason is that very few of the precision rifle shots are made anyway than off the bi-pod, and the little extra time it takes to get into a military sling, which is every bit as good as a cuff sling, is really insignificant! Also the Military sling is usefull for actually carring the rifle where as a cuff sling just atttaches the rifle to your cuff. KURTM My bad! The T.I.S. sling can also carry the rifle, and as I look it seems like a pretty cool design. I don't think I would change my 1907 sling for it but I can see the merit of it! uscbigdawg
For my MOR setup, I'll be carrying a V-Tac and a Quick Cuff. Switching depending on the stage needs. Just my $0.02. Rich
M118LR
Glad you saw the differents KurtM. The TIS Quick cuff sling can also be used to carry a rifle. All three of my slings have carried rifles at Tactical, Sniper and Highpower matches. As I said before you can hook up to the sling if you need to. If not you can use it to carry your rifle. Religious Shooter
Which version of the Quick cuff did you get or recomend?
John Dunn
I like the V-tac for my ARs, but use the TIS sling for the ITRC. I have Steyr's version of the Ching sling on a Scout rifle, and it's pretty slick as well. If you go with the TIS sling, get the one with the detachable cuff and make sure to safety pin it to your sleeve, that lets you wear it loose so it doesn't cut off any circulation without it constantly sliding down your arm. Best advice (as always) is to pick one and practice.
