diehli
I sent an email through Winchester's site. Wonder if it could be 296.This propellant was developed for Winchester factory loaded ammunition for 357 magnum, 44 magnum and 410 bore. Its high loading density provides optimal velocity. 296 is widely accepted as the standard for 410 bore shotshell. However, 296 is not suitable for most rifle cartridges. And Winchester's response: Thank you very much for taking the time to contact us here at Winchester Ammunition. We are always glad to hear from our many friends and customers who share in the shooting sport. The information you requested is considered proprietary information and is not released, sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you again for contacting us here at Winchester Ammunition. If you should require additional information, do not hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, Winchester Technical Department
Alan Meek
Cullen, Weel you tried It would have been nice to get a better answer, maybe something along the lines of a similiar perfomring load without the proprietary information. Thanks Alan
eric nielsen
Thanks for looking into that, guess they don't want to say. I've always been told that the factories can add more and more retardant to the outside of their powders to dial in whatever [higher] charge weight they need, with the goal of filling the case to the bullet or nearly there. So W-W might have some of that going on.
