obsessiveshooter
I was looking at tungsten powder buffers, and thought, What if I took the weight out of my standard buffer and replaced it with lead shot, stainless pins or whatever to replicate a tungsten powder filled buffer, but for free? I can't be the first person to think of this... What do you think?
Boomstick303
You could do it but I do not think it would feel the same. I think the idea of the powder is that it flows similar to water. I cannot see pins or lead shot acting in the same manner. Although it would be different than a normal buffer it would not be the same as the powder in feet recoil. I imagine the of the feel of the impulse of the pins/lead shot would be somewhere in between the normal buffer and the tungsten powder buffer. obsessiveshooter
Thanks, I guess at $30 for the tungsten buffer, it's worth it to just get it instead of spending time on a half measure.
TonytheTiger
Did this with lead shot once, just to see what happens. I think it ended up just slightly heavier than an H2. I think it's still in one of my rifles somewhere.
