Jim Watson
I noticed an odd looking .45 ACP coming off the S1050 after seating with a Hornady Microjust die, hence here under non-Dillon. It was well under target OAL. The seating die was loose in the press and the Microjust spindle was loose in the die body. Seems like that would deliver long rounds, not short, but there it was. About half the ammo loaded today was short. These are .45 Minor loads, so I do not worry about excessive pressure, but wonder if they will feed. I will shoot the shortest and find out. RePete
I hope you didn't load too many before you found out.
jubi351
Had this problem with the Hornady microjust as well. I now use a pair of channel locks to tighten and have a sharpie mark on die and adjuster. Definitely weird that the OAL was shorter though.
Jim Watson
I thought I had the die tight in the head, those split rings bind hard when you tighten the cross screw. I do have a mark on the seating adjustment and did not notice, it was so slightly loose. The Hornady is not the only die I have had loosen in a Dillon head. I will try lock washers and O rings.
