davsco
so i sent my sti tactical 4.0 2011 slide off to get milled for a red dot. pretty sure the factory slide was just blued and not dlc etc (ie, no coating). i had them cerakote the slide and they did the underbelly also. now the gun is not fully going into battery and i think it's because the lugs/recesses on the slide now have less room for the recesses/lugs on the barrel to mate. when i got it back the slide wasn't cycling at all so i had to sand down (mostly sand off) the cerakote inside of the slide's rails/recesses. in hindsight, i should have passed on the cerakote and just re-blued the section that was milled; it's hidden by the optic anyway. what's the best way to remove cerakote from the slide's lugs/recesses? is there a chemical that would dissolve it? really can't get an even sandpaper job in there. not that i have access to a sandblaster, but would that be the best way? other options? thanks! Racinready300ex
I've had some I couldn't get back together that I lightly sanded or lapped in places. Once it's together just shoot it. It'll loosen up pretty quick.
open17
Had the same problem. Ended up buying an "air eraser" (little abrasive blaster that looks like a big airbrush). Ultra fine bead blast media, 30 PSI and about 1 minute----clean locking recesses.

open17
Use it inside your big blast cabinet or suit up like you were spraying Ebola. That fine media goes everywhere!
