Glock 17 Custom work

I have a Gen 5 Glock 19 that seems to be the Glock I've been waiting for. I also have an old Gen 2 17 that I don't particularly like to shoot. Any recommendations of where to send the 17 to for custom work to bring it similar to the Gen 5 19. Don't want to necessarily run out and buy a new 19 if I can keep the 17 and have it brought up to specs. I know there is a physical size difference, so not the CC the 19 is, but would be nice to have it set  up for general shooting, IDPA and possibly to take to a few courses such as the ones offered at Gunsite. Took the 19 to the week long 350 and it was great, except possibly an inch longer bbl and sight radius may have helped on some of the more precision stuff and longer distances.

Except for the name and looking alike, those are very different animals. Trying to modify either one to the specs of the other isn't going to be easy or cheap.

As CClass said, I'd just buy a Gen5 G17 and be money ahead.

Sell it and use that and the money you expected pay for the work and buy a Gen 5.  Or buy the Gen 5 and use the Gen 2 as a garage gun, or "laundry room" gun.

My reloading bench and laundry are in the same room.  Since it is at the back of the house and I spent a lot of time there, TV, music, mancave, i keep one in the bench drawer.  (I had to put the washer and dryer back in there for a hot tub.(no time machine))

Modding a Gen2 is mostly likely not worth the time and effort, but can be done.  I did a Gen 3 Frame swap to gain the front accessory rail turning a Gen 2 into a proper truck gun a few years ago.  Since they still ran the two pin frames in the Gen 2 i had to swap locking blocks to utilize the Gen 3 holes and not leave one empty - the list goes on from there...

I recently chopped my G17Gen3 to a 19 grip and recontoured the backstrap and removed the finger grooves - if I were to look at another Gen 2 this would be but the path I would take and in your case get you to comment magazines with your Gen5.
