jnshapiro
My wife is looking to get a 9mm for steel and to shoot IPSC minor. We're having a devil of a time finding a Springfield 1911 in 9. So, what is your preference for a 9mm for someone with very small hands? Thanks Joel
warpspeed
I'd take a long look at a Glock or Springfiled XD. The nice thing about these is the grips can be shaped / contured to fit.

DougCarden
Find a gun and/or frame that is CA legal for you, then have one of the talented smiths in CA make her a gun that fits her hand, ie mainspring housing, short trigger, grip safety, etc. If it is set up right she wont let go of it! RayKu
I have very small hands (I actually wear a ladies small size golf glove), and I found the XD to be the best fit for the price. The pistol sets up much like a traditional 1911 with a much smaller grip, and as the previous posts have noted because it plastic (ooops, polymer), it is easy to reduce even further. Of course, a nice 1911 customed tailored to fit would be quite nice as well though usually much more expensive. I believe someone on this forum was offering a certificate for a new 9mm tactical for $400.

jnshapiro
Forgot to post a followup. A member here offered us a good deal on a Springfield 1911 in 9mm. We took him up on it. Can't wait to get it! Thanks for the help. Joel
BerettaRacer
Just a little reminder, you can't alter the grip if you intend to shoot in Production division.
OpnBlstr
Just a little reminder, you can't alter the grip if you intend to shoot in Production division. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah but I heard that the plastic grips wear out/in to fit your hand even faster than steel ones. toddrod
I hope you enjoy your Sprinfield 9mm as much as I enjoy mine. For steel I run an 8 lb spring, 124g lead head, TG 3.0g. Like shooting a 22 cal.
