Fo0
If one side of the trigger bar spring is off its track (not pushing up the trigger bar) will this cause the trigger to not engage 100% of the time?

Yes, that could be your cause
Fo0
What does the sear cage do other than house the sear and sear spring? I changed from the tumbler sear cage to the 'D style' sear cage and trigger pull went up 4 ounces. Is it the different safeties since the sear spring sits on it? You most likely increased the friction, the trigger bar rides on the underside of the cage, and then there's all the other contact areas inside the cage. Did you change the sear too? Sear spring?
