Leadstar 16" ultralight barrel?

Recommended Posts

My son runs lead star bolt with success, I am sceptical on lightweight barrels due to bad experience with one (not lead star ) I found a carbon fiber hand guard that is very light , in my opinion is a better way to go . Smoke composites ,great company let them know your competition shooter 20% off . I like JP barrels, my son is running a  CKarms.com very nice barrel 14.5 pinned and welded with there comp very accurate.   Good luck on your build you love PCC

If you shoot USPSA or IDPA (or any game that requires fast double-taps) beware of going too light in the barrel.  I ran with an ultra-light barrel for nearly a year (5" barrel with 11" welded shroud), and while it points like you're using a finger instead of a gun (very fast) it's not the most stable thing for follow-up shots.  For single-shot game like Steel Challenge it's absolutely amazing, but I switched to a heavier barrel with a comp for better mid-range accuracy in the second shot.

That may be more my failing as a shooter - using equipment to overcome the inability to keep the end solid, but it certainly worked.  I don't miss the tiny amount of pointing speed I lost, and massively appreciate how much easier it is to keep the dot steady on small top A zone targets with tight no-shoots.  Stage designers around here just love those.

this guy?

Looks decent, good price for the weight especially if you want to run stainless with a stainless comp. If they have a 14.5" I'd almost say get the shorter and pin the comp so it's easier to maneuver during a match. I have a 16" JP stainless that weighs 6 oz more than this barrel and now I'm intrigued but I need to stop being a barrel whore 😛

Otherwise I'd say check out Taccom for lightweight and fairly cheap. This way, you don't have to buy a comp or pay for it to get pinned and welded https://taccom3g.com/product/extreme-feed-14-5-9mm-barrel-with-brake/

or go all out https://mbxextreme.com/index.php?page=PCC_Barrel_Handguard#lwBarrel

$140 for that weight and length can't really go wrong though with the Leadstar.

I cut my barrel down to 10", after a squibfest that resulted in two bulges. Got some 3/4" (ID) aluminum tube which fit perfectly over the place where the gas block would have been, pinned and welded to 16.1". Lost almost no velocity and gun is way light in the nose. Aestheticly, I like the look of the fat tube sticking out of the handguard.

Yeah that's the one. I ordered it. Gonna run a faxon bolt and taccom buffer. Fingers crossed.
