Blockader
There wasn't much info out there on light loads (i.e. for 3-gun, steel challenge) with Alliant SP for my bullet weight so I figured I'd stick some data up for future generations. Caution: note the fairly short OAL. ProChrono Digital, 10 ft distance 55 degrees - overcast 124 grain Everglades Plated RN 1.10" OAL CCI Small Pistol Mixed Brass CZ TSO 5.23" barrel with 11# recoil spring 3.2 gr AVG VEL= 906 fps AVG PF=112 ES=47 SD=11 Extremely soft (like .22), Dirty Cases, 3 ft. ejection distance 3.3 gr AVG VEL=942 fps AVG PF=116 ES=33 SD=9 Soft, Slightly Cleaner Cases, 3-4 ft ejection distance 3.4 gr AVG VEL=973 AVG PF=120 ES=20 SD=5 Soft but clearly 9mm, clean cases, 4-5 ft ejection distance 3.6gr AVG VEL=1013 AVG PF=125 ES=21 SD=7 Softish, clean cases, 5-6 ft ejection distance 3.8 AVG VEL=1037 AVG PF=128 ES=23 SD=8 Standard 9mm recoil (needs heavier spring), dirtier cases?, 7ft ejection distance I think 3.4 gr is clearly the minimum charge at 1.10" OAL, though the 3.2 could work for steel challenge if you don't mind foregoing the clean burning aspect of SP. I went back and did the 3.3 gr string due to the big 67 fps jump between 3.2 and 3.4 to see if the TSO chamber was getting a decent seal there. Hope this helps somebody at some point! rowdyb
For a 125 coated I use 3.8 Sport Pistol to get me 130pf out of my Shadow 2. For Steel Challenge I've just dropped a 115 on it and left it as is.
Blockader
Oops, I also ran the 3.4 grains load through my PCC with 16" New Frontier barrel. It averaged 1113 fps and 138 pf.
