Flintlock rifle kit for 16-year-old son.

Any recommendations on a good rifle kit. Something that would be historically accurate. He is very mechanical so something a little more complicated would not be a problem. Just have no idea about these type of guns. Or maybe even a modern black powder or muzzleloader rifle kit. Just trying to find some type of kit that he could put together as a Christmas present.

The traditions kits are far from accurate and of fairly low quality.

Chambers makes excellent kits but they are pretty intensive. The best kits out there for a first build are made by Jim Kibler.

If executed well they result in an heirloom quality rifle. I shoot the .40 I built monthly in my blackpowder clubs matches and it performs as good as it looks.

I built one that looked a lot like that one, had a42” Douglas barrel one of a kind hand fitted double trigger coin silver inlays. Mr. Frank Burton was my mentor and guide.
