LCE Random Fail to Eject

Recommended Posts

Just got my new Limited Custom Extreme, out of the box i just love the gun, it is well worth the price for the quality. have a question for this is my first Tanfoglio, shooting Federal target rounds, i would get several failing to eject, is this common for New or target rounds, or is there something i need to look at in more detail?  the LCE came with 2 extra springs, but  haven't made any changes.

appreciate any feedback , Thanks

this one is 9mm.... 400 rounds, maybe 2-4 fail to eject rounds per clip. would lock the slide back, drop the mag, re-rack  and it does eject the fired round. i first thought it was the clips at first, i bought the gun in NJ and they were going to Block the mags from 17 rounds, but they remember i live in FL so they didn't block, but my first thought was they messed up the mags, but think it is more the ammo, just not sure.

check extractor tension.  Make sure the "hook" part has a nice square edge without chips.  If it has low tension, remove a little material from the"pad" area.  I also ALWAYS change the extractor spring to the Wolff extra power extractor spring.

You mentioned you're using target ammo.

If you have the stock (OEM) recoil spring installed you may not have enough impetus on the back of the shell casing to send it completely free of the gun when the slide slams it against the ejector.

You may simply need a lighter recoil spring, or perhaps a stiffer load.

Ok, I will take a look at the 2 extra springs that came with the kit once i land and get to the hotel. New to Tanfoglio, so still learning it....even thou i know my glocks well, glad to have made the switch, my grouping is so much better, even with my bad eye sight.

34 rounds at 4 yards and 17 rounds at 10 yards ...both on 1/2 size targets, not great but for the first time not shooting a glock i am pretty happy, honestly didn't think I was going to hit at 10, I struggle to make out the target past 5 yards.bb6260dfcb8c9373db420f97afe85b7f.jpg03646d9a4d6c5ffe46a9a1046217d38e.jpg

Amazing, isn't it.

My Stock II shoots 5 shot clover leafs at 100 yards while holding the gun over my shoulder using a hand mirror. I'm too old to try it standing on my head, but I'm sure the outcome would be the same.

Stay tuned to this topic listing. Before long you'll damned near be doing what I just described. :D

You must have a horrible flinch!  Doing one handed handstands on my horse at full gallop, my stock 2 easily de-nuts gnats at 100yds.

I do, indeed. When I was born the Doctor mistook my ass from my face and gave me a resounding slap. I've been flinching ever since. :o

So i have looked over the feedback everyone has taken time to share, it looks like it does like the hook has good square edges, in regards to it not having enough impetus when it closes to grab the shell ,it is hard for me to tell ,but i will test the other 2 springs that came in the kit next time at the range.

what is the difference in the 3 springs, in regards to there purpose, is it practice, completion, or certain class in completions... or ammo loads... or is it simply shooter preference?

  • one spring in the gun from the factory
  • molla dis 75aa kg 6,46 lb 14,23 - 14lb spring?
  • molla dis 54aa kg 5,09 lb 11,21 - 11lb spring?

I have read a few threads in regards to bolo, titan , xtreme sear , is for the LCE is there anything i would notice as an significant improvement over the stock parts? the only thing i really look for is a smooth clean break, mine is pretty decent, but not 100% smooth and clean,  i am going to order the Wolff power extractor, so just wanted to hear thoughts from others if any other add are worth the money, or does it all just come down to the time spend polishing?

Appreciate the feedback as i am learning Tanfoglio as i have moved away from Glock, anyone have a link for complete field take down?

I assume you mean a guide to detail stripping the gun. Search for "Tanfoglio Tuning" on YouTube. My tutorials are based on the DA/SA production guns, but they're extremely similar to your gun in most ways.

The Titan/Bolo combination will give you a zero-pretravel trigger than breaks with a fraction of an inch of movement then resets just as quickly.

It turns the trigger into a 1911s. A really good 1911 trigger, too.

To update,

I have tried all  3 springs, 800 rounds thru it, and still randomly fails to eject casing with different ammo and a 4 magazines. what would be the next best thing to try an narrow down issue, would the Wolff extra power extractor spring be the next step?

MM, thanks for the feedback on the titan/bolo, for the LCE does it need a gunsmith or will it fit without any modification.

Ordering the Wolff extra power, see if maybe it will correct the issue, not sure, but worth a try.

Where do you buy the tools you use for tanfoglio like the punch?

Thanks

I have a Tekton punch set, it has the roll pin punches plus flat punches in the common sizes, so you can use the flat punch as a slave while pushing a pin in with the roll pin punch.  Not the cheapest out there, but the quality is outstanding, got mine on Amazon:

  • 3 weeks later...

Got the Wolff extra power  waiting for me when i get home friday, Do i have to do a full take down or will it come out with a punch removing the pin for just the extractor?  I still haven't learned a full take down yet, still learning it as i am switching from glock.. i did also get the bolo from PD, if i understand correct  my current stock xtreme titian hammer and xtreme sear will work with the bolo?

The extractor can be taken out just by removing the pin.  Of course you have to remove the barrel, spring, guide rod first.

Thanks, hopefully my punch set has arrived!... if not guess i will have to wait till next month, i only get to home 2 days a month in most cases....
