Whoops!
With an ultra light weight bolt carrier made from 7075 aluminum, shouldn't people only be using 6061 buffer tubes? That way, the cheap buffer tube will wear and not the exceptionally expensive bolt carrier. That, plus the lower impulse from the lighter weight bolt carrier will put less stress on the buffer tube and make its durability (if you don't fall on it, of course) less of a factor anyway. Anyone disagree?
dauntedfuture
buffer tubes don't normally wear out. Its the stress of the steel bolt in the BCG that wears out an Al carrier.... or so is my understanding
sNICKers
I personally have never seen a tube wear out, but i do oil the inside lightly on all my guns.
DesertTortoise
Doesn't the bolt carrier hit the buffer, and the buffer hits the buffer tube? I think you're overthinking it Edited September 12, 2016 by DesertTortoise
mpeltier
The AL carrier will probably wear out from contact with the bolt long before the buffer tube imparts any appreciable wear to it. Your definately overthinking it.
