Rob Boudrie
I picked up 11 new applications from the PO box on the way to work this morning. It looks like a record Area 7 turnout, and weekend slots will almost certainly be a sellout. Rob
L1011
Note: There are still rooms available at the Area 7 Match Hotel (Ramada). YOU MUST ASK FOR THEM by telling them you want an Area 7 Match room. Otherwise the hotel will tell you they are booked for the weekend.
Rob Boudrie
I picked up 5 more registrations at the PO box today. This looks like it is going to be a record turnout for an Area 7 Championship, and will almost certainly sellout all weekend slots.
Rob Boudrie
The area 7 championship is nearly full. I spoke to the match director tonite, and there is "wiggle room" on Friday if we are technically "full" (there is room for one more squad, and some of the staff will probably shoot on Thursday), but Sat/Sun openings will only be added if there are cancellations - see www.uspsa.org/squadding -------------- Now, on to nerd stuff. We will have the Clubhouse Area Network available at Area 7 again this year. We will be using Palm scoring, and posting results to an internal network on a regular basis throughout the day (there may not be interim posts on Friday since the stats crew will be shooting, but we will have results up almost immediately thereafter). If you don't want to wait for access to one of the systems we will have set up for shooters in the clubhouse, or want to browse scores at length, feel free to bring your own wireless laptop (b or g), and look for the website "http://match.a7" which will resolve within the local network. [ MySql/Perl/Php source code available on request if anyone wants to try setting this up at other matches ] Rob
gmshtr
Hi Rob, I looked at the squadding, and assumed that Turtle (Todd Sindelar) has already contacted you regarding his cancellation, since he's not on our squad anymore. If there is any refund, just send it to him, and he'll pay me back. Thanks Phil
Rob Boudrie
All weekend slots have been taken for the Area 7, however, I expect that there will be a few cancellations priior to the May 22 deadline. If you want in to Area 7, and can only shoot on a particular day, send in your app with a note asking me to hold the app and process it only if an opening becomes available. If you are registered, but unable to attend, please contact me by the May 22 deadline in order to qualify for the refund (w/$15 cancellation fee). If you don't cancel by May 22, there is no refund, as we will be unable to make the slot available to someone else if we are holding it for you. Cancellation requests must be submitted by the competitor - emails saying "my buddy can't make it", and comments on this forum about someone not being able to attend, do not meet the standard of notice the match needs to remove someone from the match roster. L1011
The Area 7 Match Staff and Rochester Brooks Gun Club are going to hold a couple of fundraisers with all the proceeds going to USPSA's junior program and the "Adopt A Sniper" program. The USPSA Junior program probably needs no introduction and is a very worthwhile cause that benefits youth involvement into IPSC style shooting. The "Adopt A Sniper" program may need some introduction. “Adopt A Sniper” is officially known as www.americansnipers.org is a very worthwhile group that supports our front line troops with a great many tools and basic supplies that unfortunately are in short supply from our government and in some cases not available at all to US soldiers serving on the front lines. Jeff Curts of Rochester Brooks spoke with Brian Sain the program director recently after "Adopt A Sniper" was featured in American Handgunner and Soldier of Fortune magazines. Brian indicated that this group started as a group of law enforcement officers and military personnel that wanted to make a difference in helping to getting the job done in the Middle East. They provide everything from basic hygiene items to tactical gear. Please take a moment and check out their site. In addition to raising money for this group we'll be collecting useful items to send directly overseas. One of the items Brian mentioned a great need for was knives of all types, from a basic folding pocket knife to fixed blades, they are all in short supply. Please check their site for a list of other items that you may be able to help with. These items and the collected cash will be sent to the program along with a note or card expressing the thanks of USPSA/IPSC shooters for the difficult job the troops are doing. So bring along that useful item and help a worthy cause. Tickets can be purchased at the match for our 50/50 raffle or by mail to Jeff Curts 170 Jefferson Rd., Rochester NY 14623 or jeffcurts@yahoo.com the cost is $5.00 per ticket. Rob Boudrie
We have had a couple of cancellations, and I expect that a couple more will come in just before the 5/22 "no refund" cutoff. So, if you want to shoot, check the matrix at www.uspsa.org/squadding and see what's open.

Rob Boudrie
Due to cancellations and people moving around in squads, we now have 3 slots open on Saturday afternoon, and about 10 on Friday. So, there is still time to get in. We are ending self-service squadding this weekend, so you will have to write your selection on the registration form. Also, please list all choices which are acceptable. IOf we can't fit you in one on the "acceptable" list, your check will be returned. Rob ps: The reason we are freezing "Self service" squadding is so that we can prepare the paperwork for the match (squad rosters, etc.).
L1011
New maps (pdf files) have been posted on our website (http://www.rbps.net/) to help shooters find their way around the grounds at Rochester Brooks Gun Club. Parking areas on the grounds are shown. Parking beyond the gate between the pistol bays and the shotgun ranges is restricted to staff and handicap. GeorgeInNePa
The RBPS website has a shotgun side match listed for the Area 7 match. Is there any info available for the side match? Cost? Ammo requirements? Thanks.
L1011
Hi George, Originally a steel target supplier was going to be on site and running a side match for fun and to demo products. I believe that may have changed. I'll get with the match director this morning to get the final word. There is a "warm up" plate rack competition that will be taking place. Fastest times take home some cash. Mike

L1011
OK, Here's the info on the Shotgun side match. Originally, a target supplier was going run a shotgun side match, as I mentioned earlier. They (the supplier) have since decided it would be a better fit to do this at our 3-gun match in August. We have replace the shotgun match with a "warm up" plate rack speed shoot. This is a cash match in conjunction with the fundraiser we advertised on our website. The plate rack will be running Friday.
