Is it safe to convert a 9mm Stock II to a 40 S&W

I have heard of people switching 40 barrel to 9 but is it doable and safe to convert a 9 into a 40. I am thinking of making my extra stock 2 9mm into a Limited gun in 40 S&W to play USPSA. Is this just changing the barrel and magazine? Is a SA trigger a must have or a DA work the same way?

Appreciate any advise.

You would be better off just to get a dedicated upper in 40, actually a limited upprr would be even better

It won't work, a 40 rim is too big for a 9mm breech face.

Yep. Won't work without new slide as kneelingatlas posted. The reason people can go 40-9 with a barrel swap is 9 can run in the 40 breech even though it's oversize. But a 40 case won't go into a 9 breech.

You could probably find someone with a 40 stock 2 who would swap for your 9.
