Cheely 90 Degree Set Back Mount

Hi. I have the Cheely offset mount with Cmore. I liked it then tried a RtS2. I am not liking the RTS2 as much as I thought. The viewing window is too dark and the dot is not bright enough for me with my fancy sunglasses in the open light.

I admit I like to tinker and want to try a 90 deg mount now. I know I need the set back one. Can someone that has one tell me the following (my gun is the CK Arms Hardcore Open)

1. Is the dot centered over the gun, or is it offset to the left like the offset mount?

2. Does the setback allow enough clearance for the slide racker?

I just want to make sure before I spend the $90 bucks one one.

Thanks,

-Wayne

With the 90 degree setback, the dot is centered. You will need an extended racker for a left side mount with this configuration however. Before switching to the RTS2, I used the Brazos Extended Zig Racker which worked well.

Thanks. Is this the one you are talking about?

Do you know if it is a drop in replacement for the stock one I have on there now, or will I need to have the slide machined more and have it fit?

This is the mount I am planning on getting:

That's the one. Not sure if the dovetail cut on your gun is the same as the one required for the Zig Racker. Even if the dovetail is the same, it would need to be modified to accept the ball detents used on the Zig Racker. You may have more luck with the Cheely long racker (uses a set screw):

Also some more info here including a pic of my gun with the 90 mount and Zig Racker:

if you have a CK hardcore you have the std length zigracker. in which case the extended zigracker 'should' just clip straight in. clearance will be very tight between the racker and the scope/mount but it is doable.

BTW tyler, that is a sweet looking open rig. :)

oh and yes the cheely 90 setback mounts are centered over the bore.

nice. :) I noticed you've changed comps too? looks like you had a CFD/binary eng comp on before and now running a cheely? 2 barrel holes?

I do like the panel cuts in the slide. it's a neat looking rig. :)

Yep. I have 2 barrels fit for it in .38 SC and 9 Major. I've gone back and forth on both barrels and it feels like the Cheely works better on the 9mm barrel. Yes, 2 barrel holes.

I got the new racker today. As far as I can tell, the racker is the exact same dimensions as the old one. I measured like crazy with my digital calipers. All within 1/1000 inch. It doesn't fit, I started hand sanding it with 600 grit on the tight spots and got it to slide in about 1/2 mm in but have a long way to go.

My fingers are sore for tonight I will pick back up in the morning.

So, I finally got the racker fitted.i am happy either fit. I am running into the problem of the racker hitting the cmore now.

Do I need to grind down the plastic on the cmore some to allow the racker room when the slide moves forwards?

Or should I attempt to hear the racker and bend it down some?

Suggestions?

Thanks.
