Youngeyes
30 years ago, these brave men and women gave their lives for the advancement of the human race. I take this opportunity to salute and remember this incredible act of courage. It showed that we are worthy of such a sacrifice. To dream the impossible dreamTo fight the unbeatable foeTo bear with unbearable sorrowTo run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrongTo love pure and chaste from afarTo try when your arms are too wearyTo reach the unreachable star

Bamboo
Anyone who gets a chance to visit the KSC Visitors Center should be sure to visit the Forever Remembered memorial. It is pretty intense. http://www.floridatoday.com/story/tech/science/space/2016/01/27/ksc-memorial-astronauts-forever-remembered/79293926/#
Jake Di Vita
Amen. The worst part is Roger Boisjoly knew about the faulty O rings 6 months before launch and lost his career for trying to warn of the impending disaster. http://www.lettersofnote.com/2009/10/result-would-be-catastrophe.html I get angry just thinking about it... Truth, Lies and O-Rings is a great book on the tragedy. NASA really lost their way after the Apollo program. Incidentally, the Apollo 1 disaster anniversary was also this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It is sad anytime there are lives lost which easily could have been avoided. Back then I was also working as a design engineer and I distinctly recall wondering what in the world all those "passengers" were doing aboard a mission with that level of risk to life. NASA was really into making it look like it was as safe as a drive to the store but two ships lost showed that was nowhere near true. Anyway, sad we had to lose lives on those missions. Hi-Power Jack
Not a space ship - it's a capsule on the end of a giant firecracker ... Unfortunately.
