Springer vs. Shockbottle base pads

I was going to pick up a few 17rd Mec-Gar mags for my CZ. I'd like to add base pads to them.

I like that the springers are considerably less expensive and that you end up with the same length magazine as the factory 18rd mags.

The shockbottles seem to be popular too.

Is there any downside to the springers? Any reason to choose shockbottles over them?

No downside to the Springers at all. They are gtg. Money wasn't a restriction when I was considering base pads. I went with Springers.

Springers are cheaper, come in different colors, and you can get custom engraving on them.

The Shockbottles are easier to remove.

I've got both. Shockbottle seem to be made a little better. Springer are a softer metal I think because they scar up easier when dropping in gravel and other hard material. I like them both.

Well my 16 round Mecgars with rubber Basepads have served me without issues for years. The only downside is that they have less to grab and nowhere to slap on grip tape.

There's a larger gap between the pad and the frame (when the mag is installed) with the ShockBottle pads.
