Hi guys!

Hey guys names Tony. Recently got into USPSA shooting. Recently I found myself a good deal on a Glock 34 (still waiting on parts). It will have a Trijicon RMR, Lonewolf threaded barrel and a Compensator also has a Pyramid trigger system. I have only shot two rounds of USPSA so I am very new! But I was informed that I should start loading my own ammo that it is cheaper and better then the factory stuff. Also that if I want to be competitive with a 9mm I need to load/shoot in Major? I don't really understand how all that works. I will be doing lots of reading! And hopefully be able to get all my info here from you guys :)

Thanks!

Welcome aboard.

Sounds like you have a nice gun to get started with.

If you're shooting OPEN (optical sight, 170 mm hi-cap mag

and compensator, then YES, you are better off loading your

own ammo to MAJOR.

Power factor is either Minor or MAJOR - minor is 125, (the

velocity x bullet weight) - so a 125 gr bullet at 1,000 fps = 125.

You want to load to major - 125 gr bullet @ 1320 fps.

And, of course, if you're shooting at a match with a chrono,

you want to bump that up 5-7 fps so you will be guaranteed

of making Major.

You should read the regs on USPSA.

BTW, you don't have to reload yourself - you can purchase

9mm ammo loaded to Major - bit pricey, so you can save

yourself some money by reloading yourself.

Good luck with your new addiction.

I made the jump to open a couple years ago. I used a modified Glock 17 and set it up to use 9mm major loads for the first year. Great care should be taken if you're new to reloading and 9mm major. I would shoot 9mm minor for a bit until you get the fundamentals of reloading, buy a chrono, then make the jump to major.
