Grip size reference

After reading the different topics around grips and sizes it made my head spin. I searched to see if there was a size chart, did t see one.

I will make one so hopefully we can help others. I'll put some models down and if you can reply with a measured size across the thickest part of the grip I'll add it. Specify which grip as well. I'll try to create a spreadsheet to share.

The 97 with factory wood grips might be as big as it gets, but the TS with factory wood grips is close. The three guns you listed represent the three different frame sizes made by CZ: small frame (SP01), large frame (97B) and the TS/CM frame which is a unique wide bodied small frame designed for high capacity in .40.

The terms "small frame" and "large frame" refer to the caliber the pistol was designed for. Small frame pistols were designed around the 9x19 cartridge, and were later adapted for other small frame calibers: .40 S&W, .357 SIG, .41 AE, etc.; large frame pistols were designed around the .45 ACP, then adapted for .38 Super, 10mm, 9x25 Dillon, ect.

Large frame pistols can be chambered in small frame calibers (e.g. 19/2011, Tanfoglio Witness) but not vise versa.

Because it's designed for large frame calibers, the 97 is longer from front to back, but the TS is a hair wider.

Would the P09/07 be considered small frame then?

I don't know much about the plastic guns, but I think they're wide small frames, maybe not as wide as the TS, but wider than the 75.

Thanks for all the info Atlas. That is a great start. I should've been more specific though. I'm trying to make a chart for different grip panel sizes on different guns. Ie DAA, CZC, wood, VZ etc. but your info will help for sure.

I hope this helps. There is slight variation from frame to frame and grip to grip. Please add/correct dimensions. Thickness is not everything. The shape is even more important.

Thanks PRanta for adding those and all the work you put in making the heart of the list. So are the checkered the new style with the CZ logo on the side? I'll update the list if so.

In my list CZ UB Checkered is old style with CZ logo and light vertical grooves near the back edge (in brass: http://www.shop-cz.com/strenky-cz-75-sp01-tenke-mosaz/d-72049/ ). Diamond checkered is new style without CZ logo and smooth near the back edge. I just learnt they exists.
