ppierceall
I have read some reviews on rail systems to mount a red dot sight to your glock without milling the slide. The reviews I have read on the rail from Strike Industries are about a 70/30 split on good to bad.is there a tried and true rail system, or should I just get the slide milled?Thank you
Gooldylocks
Are you trying to get a frame mounted dot, or a slide mounted? If slide mounted, there are various companies that sell dovetail mounts for the rear sight channel that a Fastfire, Deltapoint, RMR, etc can mount to. I have heard good things about the Springer one. http://shop.springerprecision.com/product.sc?productId=105&categoryId=30 https://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=156282&CAT=10 If you want a Frame mounted dot, without drilling your frame you have a few choices as well, with the Carver mount standing out as the most tried and true: http://w.iwebcenters.com/bbenterprise2/ecommerce/carver-handgun-scope-mounts/carver-glock-scope-mounts/competition-glock-scope-mounts.cfm http://www.brownells.com/optics-mounting/electronic-sights/mounting-hardware/6-second-mount-for-glock--prod77342.aspx http://www.neumount.com If you want to go full Open/Race gun style and you don't mind permanently modifying the frame to do so, SJC makes a very nice mount. http://stores.sjcguns.com/sight-mounts/ All of these options don't require slide milling. librarian45
I went with milling b/c it's a carry gun. and the added height of the mounts was just too much for me to re-learn. If you're consiering the STRIKE remember it'll be the height of the picatinny rail AND the screw on mount for your dot, so it will be REALLY high off the bore. Watermelonassassin
librarian45 where did you get your milling work done at? I am looking at the ALG defense mount, but I have also thought about just picking up another slide and having it milled.
hornetx40
The carver mount is big and cumbersome. Go with the SJC mount...it is much smaller and lighter also with it you won't need a modified holster as you do with the Carver mount.

Am I better of with a frame mount?

librarian45
Delta points supposedly hold up pretty well. buttons/switched get killed faster on the slide, so the delta point and rmr02 model are real popular. BUT... I think the delta point is discontinued
