Rail System for Glock

I have read some reviews on rail systems to mount a red dot sight to your glock without milling the slide. The reviews I have read on the rail from Strike Industries are about a 70/30 split on good to bad.

is there a tried and true rail system, or should I just get the slide milled?

Thank you

Are you trying to get a frame mounted dot, or a slide mounted?

If slide mounted, there are various companies that sell dovetail mounts for the rear sight channel that a Fastfire, Deltapoint, RMR, etc can mount to. I have heard good things about the Springer one.

If you want a Frame mounted dot, without drilling your frame you have a few choices as well, with the Carver mount standing out as the most tried and true:

If you want to go full Open/Race gun style and you don't mind permanently modifying the frame to do so, SJC makes a very nice mount.

All of these options don't require slide milling.

I went with milling b/c it's a carry gun. and the added height of the mounts was just too much for me to re-learn.

If you're consiering the STRIKE remember it'll be the height of the picatinny rail AND the screw on mount for your dot, so it will be REALLY high off the bore.

librarian45 where did you get your milling work done at? I am looking at the ALG defense mount, but I have also thought about just picking up another slide and having it milled.

Carver makes some mounts that don't require frame mods.

I have been told mounting optics directly to the glock slide can make them die/break faster, even Trijicon RMR's. Is there any truth to this? Am I better of with a frame mount?

If you want to go frame mount way I have a neumount gift certificate I'd be willing to sell

I may message you about that. But I still haven't decided on the best choice yet. Appreciate the offer.

If you go slide mounted you're pretty much stuck with the RMR or the Delta point. I've seen FFii and FFiii used with lots of reports of them croaking.

How is the Delta Point? I haven't seen many reviews on it.
