  1. Ever so slightly. But all the pin holes lined up properly so it was just a matter of milling a little material off the nose of the mount. Took about 20mins.
  2. Ok, so on some competition race Glocks I have seen guys remove the rear sight and install a charging handle in the rear sight dove tail. I want one. But I have no idea what it is called or who makes it. And....GO!
  3. Glad I could pave the way. I will post more about it as I pick up pieces and what not for it. But I still have a lot of reviews to read before I buy more gear.
  4. HAHAHAHA lets stick to worrying about one kid for now. Signing me up for checks I can't cash lol. I have a couple ar receivers set aside for my kids. Why not have some 2011 or 1911 frames too. I was worried about the 2011 since I had never held one and it seemed bulky. I got to hold an STI marauder 2011 today and I am going to either get or build one so a 2011 frame is next on the never ending list of supplies to get.
  5. I didn't notice that till I held one in person today. It seems built fantastic thought. I actually got to shoot a G17 with the ALG and a T1. A lot of fun to say the least. I will have to look into the carvers and SJCs.
  6. I am super happy with my purchase just can't wait for it to arrive. I have notified my landlord and they only asked that I don't do anything illegal, which is reasonable. I have been looking at the different pouches and holsters. I am likely going to do bullets out like Jbultman suggested. Yea I am noticing that this stuff gets pricey. I don't know as I would be comfortable with the airsoft stuff though. i have purchased other "airsoft" items and they died rather quickly. While they may work fine, I am kinda mentally gun shy of that stuff now.
  7. I made a different post on here but I was told that the G17 ALG defense mount was not compatible with the G19. I went to PSA's physical location today and they had one and sure enough it does fit the G19. I just wanted to let everyone know so that if anyone else is thinking about it they know.
  8. I currently rent a house off campus so I am able to have guns there. I even have a big ole safe and all that. So it seems it would have been best to get a cheaper 1911 so I can get all the accessories. I didn't expect to immediately compete with it factory new. I would like a gun that has some benefits already there, but I honestly would need to practice more to get the self confidence behind the gun necessary to compete as right now I have maybe 5 mags through a 1911 in my lifetime. I have a range officer on order through the local gun store now. I just couldn't deny the quality. Now I need mags, belts, holsters, etc. It will probably take me a few months to slowly build the kit I need. All the while I will be shooting it as much as possible.Excellent choice! There are ways to save money on that other gear. I've found the Blade Tech Revolution holster works well with a single stack- I think I paid 24 for mine. I made my own single stack pouches in college for $10 worth of kydex. Down the road you can add a boss hanger from the Ben Stoeger pro shop to your holster and go for whatever mag pouches you want but you can get into it cheap. The initial quality of the gun, and the warranty from Springfield, are hard to beat.Down the road you can likely find someone to lend you a hand with a trigger job or other little mods you might want to make but starting with a solid foundation is a wise choice. Yea I am pretty happy with my decision. I am spending all today and tomorrow loading .45 should have over 10k rounds by the time I'm done. My springer comes with some owb holster and mag pouches. Is any of that stuff useful for this application? Or am I better of getting the blade tech?

  10. SO it sounds like the C-more is the way to go. What attributes would be best for my needs? I am talking dot size, aluminum vs plastic, click vs rheostat, etc. I know it is a lot of personal preference but I need a good starting point to figure out what is best for me. So if it was your gun and your money how would you set it up?

  12. I had a VP9 and had this issue which made rapid fire for me more difficult. Mine was also extremely ammo finicky compared to my other 9mms. With standard Geco ammo that would feed and function in all my other pistols, the VP9 would get jammed up out of battery and require use of a dowel rod from the front end to hammer the round out. I ended up selling it as I felt it was not worth the hassle.
  13. I am building a G17 with a ALG defense mount. What is the best rail mounted red dot I can buy? I am looking at the C-more, RMR, Deltapoint, and Aimpoint T1. People seem enamored with the C-more sight. What is the appeal? Is it that you can change the diodes and colors and what not? Is there advantages that I can't think of? This will be switched back and forth between a G17 and 1911 till I can purchase a second optic.
  14. What about Np3 coating? What parts can you coat and get away with it without messing with tolerances?
  15. Forgive my lack of knowledge but does the pistol in the OP's post come in single stack?
  16. That was my thoughts. If it turns out well I was going to have it engraved and pass it down to my kids.
  17. I have owned keltec carbines and just right carbines and have had serious feeding and reliability issues with both. My friend has the Mag Tactical LDR9 carbine and it has been reliable and a blast to shoot. Might be worth looking into over other carbines.
  18. Someone local to me has a S&W1911TA for sale for a great price. What is everyone's opinion of the S&W 1911's?
  19. Awesome. This kinda stuff is the stuff I need to know. I have enough files to fill a shoe box and I wear size 13s. I don't know if they are "good" or not. And the sand paper trick is a great idea, I will have to do that. I already have a nice table vice with soft jaws ready to go. MrWallace, thanks for the brand names. I am going to see what the other brands cost and see if I like their design and what not. Things haven't even gotten here yet and this is pretty fun. Trying to decide exactly how I want every little thing.
  20. ? your link isn't a specific link. Just the amazon main page. Perhaps rishii was saying that Amazon is likely the best place to price shop? Here's what a quick search brings up--looks like $200 round numbers. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=a9_sc_1?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Apeltor+tac+pro&keywords=peltor+tac+pro&ie=UTF8&qid=1436067812 That is what it seems like. My concern is the big muffs will make getting a good check weld hard. Anyone have problems with that with these big muffs?
  21. Mark Housel of L&M precision. He was in Prescott AZ and is now somewhere in NC. I have been told mounting optics directly to the glock slide can make them die/break faster, even Trijicon RMR's. Is there any truth to this? Am I better of with a frame mount? If you go slide mounted you're pretty much stuck with the RMR or the Delta point. I've seen FFii and FFiii used with lots of reports of them croaking. How is the Delta Point? I haven't seen many reviews on it.

  23. A buddy of mine has a Tisas 1911. He doesn't use it for competition but rather as a range gun. It has been 100% reliable and seems to be built well. Maybe that is something to look at.
  24. Is the extreme engineering lite speed and lite speed 2 good triggers? Are there better triggers on the market? Are there better bang for your buck triggers?
