leofourfive
hi! Im new here. I bought 8rnds 40cal mecgar 1911 mags for my para pro comp 40. I tried my friends ammo for thier 2011 and it wouldnt fit. But factory ammo runs great but shooting factory ammo is so expensive. I going with 40cal reloads. What loads or OAL of the ammo would you suggest? I would like to shoot in IPSC classic div. Please help.
OPENB
If you want to use ammo longer than 1.5", you'll need 10mm mags. 40 mags have a spacer preventing long loaded ammo. I'm running 10mm Checkmates in my Pro Comp.
ricardo28
Tripp research has mags for 40 but specifically set up for long loads. Call them up and order the Cory setup mags for 40. They have a different follower than normally offered. Now, Tripp research mags are expensive but well worth the cost.
OPENB
Corey mags are 10mm, no spacer in them.
oak hill
measure the factory ammo you have had good success with and start with that OAL, then you might try slightly longer OAL. There is lots of load data in the reloading section, check it out.
ricardo28
Corey mags are 10mm, no spacer in them. I believe Cory himself said he asked for a hybrid follower which is different than the standard 10mm follower.
OPENB
I realize the follower is different but the tube is a 10mm tube with no spacer. If you swapped back to the original follower you'd have a regular 10mm mag. 40 mags have a spacer. 10mm do not. Follower has nothing to do with it. The special follower allows the mag to hold 10 instead of 9 of 40 or 10mm.
deadeye480
Have a Kimber Gold Match 40 SS, came w/Mecgar mag from factory, bought 6 more all work great, use factory OAL length 1.125-35. YMMV.
vernbo
I load 40,s out to 1.200 and use wilson 45 mags. works fine.
leofourfive
how about metalform 10mm mags? they say it works fine and it is also cheap.
greyhounder
Have the Sig Match Elite in 40, have used both TRIPP mag no problem and also McCormick 45s with no problem, load to factory spec OAL.
deerassassin22
The Wilson Combat 47NX is what I have and I can load out as long as 1.190 but I'm shooting the STI USPSA SS 40.
greyhounder
Like the Wilson Combats except that my range is a sand dune and with the close tolerance of them a grain of sand locks them up and scores the follower.
