Glock 9mm to .40 cal question.

I shoot 3 Gun with a G-17 with a frame mounted C-more can I swap off my 9mm slide and put on a complete G-35 slide and shoot USPSA Open High Power with it? Any issues with this approach I'm not seeing? Thank you.

You could shoot open with it. Most likely the poi will change when you change the slide, so you'll have to remember zero.

Are you using a comp? You could just reload for 9 major and not worry about the 40

Thanks for the reply. I'm not set up to reload yet so I was playing with the idea of just swapping my 35 slide on. I guess I should just buy so high power 9mm reloads and keep the gun the same.

Hello: Since you are shooting open already why not just buy a barrel and comp for 9mm? Then you could just shoot it with the same setup all the time. Thanks, Eric

I've got a KKM barrel and a 4 port Carver comp. I don't reload. So the problem is getting Major Power Factor 9 mm ammunition vs the hassle of swapping slides, re-zeroing and shooting off the shelf .40 cal to make Major. I'm thinking getting Major 9mm is easier all around?

Factory 40 cal ammo is not gonna be great for open as the heavy bullet and fast powder don't have much to Work the comp so it's gonna shoot more like a limited gun than an open gun. Open really is a reloaders game but if your shooting factory only I would just shoot your 3 gun setup at minor as 40 is gonna cost you a lot of rounds and still not shoot like an open gun

There are some company's that sell reman 9mm major loads out there or you could just shoot open minor

Open minor would be he easiest. And it would be more like the rounds you use for 3 gun

Thank you guys. Within the year I will be reloading and shooting a 2011. Until then I will continue, as you suggest, to shoot minor and get used to the USPSA game while mainly concentrating on 3 Gun.

A 9mm ejector is slightly bent inwards, compared the straight-ahead pointing ejector that sits in a .40 cal frame.

I wonder if there's a potential issue with a 9mm ejector working with .40 S&W rounds... ?

I was talking about using the whole .40 cal slide on my g-17 grip section. So even though the 9mm and the .40 cal have different ejectors the right ejector would stay with the right slide.

The ejector is part of the frame. It is easily swapped out with the trigger housing for about 17 bucks. They work okay with either caliber, but eject in different directions. Depending on load, it may our may not be annoying. Some people have voiced concern for igniting the primer when using incorrect ejector, but they are both spp, and it would be centered either way, so I don't think that is any more valid with a 40 our 9 ejector.
