Dead Buff Posted January 6, 2005 Share Posted January 6, 2005 Ballistol oil is real old in this part of the world. It was developed by the Germans as a, lets call it, general purpose oil/medicine - yes you read that correctly! The oils is good for wood, metal and leather. Best you can get for sharping knives... It also has medicinal properties for treating minor cuts and scrapes and it works very well for an upset stomach, take a teaspoon or two, and for a sore throat. There are many other oil and medicinal uses for it. I've been using the stuff for years for all the above, but have used it less on my guns due to it being water based and hence not being the best rust preventative.
