Travis224
I shoot SS guns well, and like the steel frame and other features..can anyone show me what they've built and maybe some details?
Maxximuss
I don't know anyone that shoots a 1911 in open. To be competitive you need to run a double stack. You will literally being doing 2-3 times the reloads as everyone else running a SS in open.
kneelingatlas
How many rounds fit in a single stack 170mm mag?!?
Paul-the new guy
Maybe 13 or 14? Some guys run single stack open for steel
ChrisDownUnder
.38 Super is much nicer to shoot than 9mm.
idHawk
.38 Super is much nicer to shoot than 9mm. I heard this when researching my first open gun and purchased a .38SC as a result. The gun was absolutley fantastic, but after trying a few different 9majors, I made the switch myself. I much prefer the 9mm. The difference in recoil is a non issue. I don't have to worry about brass. My ears are much happier and the 9mm is cheaper to shoot. I wish I had never listened to the ".38SC is nicer to shoot" crowd because all it did was cost me a lot of money and create a few issues that I no longer have with 9Major. I realize this is a Chevy VS Ford type argument, so I am not saying the .38Super is wrong for everyone. It was just wrong for me.
Noah my boy
I think the cost factor alone would push me towards 9mm open as well.
amish_rabbi
Even in canada where open only has 10 rounds a single stack open gun will be a serious dissadvantage. That said, i have one currently being rebarreled from .38 super to 9mm for steel challenge.
klee
.38 Super is much nicer to shoot than 9mm. There is a slight difference in recoil between the 2. But just the fact that I don't have to worry about picking up brass and I can concentrate on the match instead makes the 9 all worth it. Plus, where can you find Super or SC brass lately?
