Red Ryder
Will my Tripp 9mm mags with Tripp basepads work with the Dawson No gap magwell? or do I have to get the Dawson basepads to go with the no gap magwell?
OPENB
You can use the Tripp basepad IF you trim the plastic down on the front top of the basepad, that would rest in the notch in the front strap of the pistol. Or you can get the standard Dawson insert and replace the no gap insert. Or you can switch to Dawson no gap basepads. I like the Dawson basepads, aluminum, a little longer than stock but still fit in the box, and won't break if dropped on concrete.
JaeOne3345
I run Tripp System mags with the hybrid follower (10 round 10mm tubes cut down to fit the box, shaved pads, hold 9) and use them with a Dawson Ice No Gap. I trimmed down the front of the base pad until they fit. There is still some of the pad that prevents over insertion. I personally like this set up more than the regular cobra mags with Dawson Pads. I feel like more of the pad is exposed even towards the front of the mag. I am not sure if you would experience the same since the 9mm mags are shorter than the system mags from the get go. L3324temp
With the no gap base pads on Dawson mags, the base pad contacts the magwell the same time the mag fully seats. Some people seem to worry about over insertion and the matching base pads prevent it. I don't know it's the same with the Tripp mags.
